  • Hello from Kent in the U.K.

    Hello everyone.
I started Atkins this time around in the beginning of March. I have lost 18lb., so far, hurrah!! I did a similar diet when in my teens (about 40 years ago, alas), and lost very quickly. I tried it again in 1997 without much success, but this time I'm going for the Atkins W.O.L., as all I have read convinces me of its ongoing health benefits.
I had breast cancer 3 years ago, and have now found out that a low carb therefore low sugar diet may help prevent a recurrence. So, gotta do it now, for sure.
    regards to all

Hi Jillymeg! Welcome to the board. A low carb, sugar free diet is good for everyone! It's the carbs and sugar that we are all addicted to. You might want to pick up a new copy of the 2002 DANDR, things have changed since the 80's!!!!

Heya Jillymeg! You're doing wonderfully...18 lbs! Good for you and welcome back to Atkins. Nice to have you aboard.

Silly's right... a copy of DANDR 2002 would be a good thing. Interesting to see the revisions that Dr A made and useful because it's the one the board goes by (being the last one written entirely by Dr A).

Don't hesitate to give a shout if you need help!

Re: Hello from Kent in the U.K.

Thanks so much to all who posted such encouraging words. It feels so good to know all that support is out there, Lots of Limeys too!, and even another Kentish Maid.

Your graphics are all so lovely too, I esp. love the lighthouse one. I'll have to try and find some myself. I wanted to put a fitday link in, as I'm unsure if my food intake is right, but I can't find out yet how to do it.
I must get the revised DANDR, mine is 1999, and I'm probably not doing things quite right.

I'm not sure if I should be on extended induction, or should move to OWL yet. I only seem to be losing about 1lb. or less per week now, maybe someone could advise me?

Thanks again and continuing success to all
                          Jillymeg
Thanks to Scooter for the links you provided for me to research.
