  • Hello from Kentucky

Little bit about myself. I'm 6'2" and currently 256lbs. It's within a few pounds of the heaviest I've ever been. About a year and a half ago I was around 240. I started going to the gym 3 days a week before work with a friend from church. We're both old high school athletes so we naturally headed for the weights. We worked out the upper body pretty hard and soon I was in the 250's. We have gradually added in 20-30 minutes of cardio on those 3 days and I have slimmed up some, but weight is around the same. I have been walking on the 3 days I don't lift (Sundays off) for 1 hour before work.

Long story short I'm getting the exercise in but my big old gut stays with me. I work in the new car business as a finance manager and have terrible eating habits. It has finally hit me that it takes BOTH diet and exercise to stay fit. That's why I'm here. I'm on day 3 of induction and other than 2 diet cokes I've done great. My goal is 215 which for my frame would be ideal. I've always had the will power to exercise but have laughed off my eating habits hoping I could burn the fat off in the gym no matter what I eat. As I get older (31 now) that has gotten very difficult.

Wish me luck and I'll be posting some "Before" pictures this weekend.

    Hey Scott
Congratulations on getting your exercise habit right...and for making a change on your eating habits! Atkins works if you follow it correctly! And it really makes a big difference on the stomach too. I've lost 6 inches off my abs in the last 3 months. Stick with this board - the people on here are great about advice and questions!

Welcome to ADBB Scott! Glad you decided to join our Atkins "family".

You're so right... it takes both exercise and diet to slim down. Sounds like you have the first beat, and good intentions with the second. That's great as, if the attitude and the focus are right, then that's half the battle. I'm sure you'll be very successful.

If you need a helping hand, don't hesitate to give a shout. We're all rooting for you!
            Keep us posted!

Hey Scott! Welcome to the board! What kind of cars do you sell?

Glad to hear you're a board junkie. The way to really make this work is to come around the board often!

Great job on the fast weight loss! Men always lose faster than women, no fair!

DH just bought a Subaru STI 3 weeks ago. The sale went fine, but the finance guy wanted us to buy all sorts of other doo dads!

Is it true that the Hyundai has come out with high end a car that's along the lines of the STI?

Haven't heard anything on a new Hyundai but I don't keep up with it much. Congrats on the STI purchase. I used to be the General Sales Manager of a Subaru-Hyundai-Isuzu dealership that was owned by the same owner I work for now. Sweet car. They flew all dealership personnel to Phoenix when they first came out with the WRX here in the states. Was a great time.

I know a guy who was a writer for Hot Rod Mag. He had an STi before it was even a car and we all got to drive it. It didn't have an enblems on it or anything. He always got to test the cool cars! We are a Subaru family. I drive an Outback wagon, son drives a WRX and now DH has the STi. I'll try not to hold your profession against you. It's always torture buying a new car!
