  • New to Atkins

Hello all..... I am 27 and a single mother of 2 beautiful boys. I started Atkins yesterday and so far so good, I think. I am 4'11 and weigh about 136 I have always yo-yo'ed around 130 to 136 and being that I am little 5 pounds is a lot for me. I would like to get down to around 115 which is my pre pregnancy weight. I have looked at a bunch of before and after pic and they motivate me a lot so thanks to all the post them. The only thing is while I am eating I feel like there is no way I can lose weight eating Mayo and cheese freely. Anyhow, I just wanted to introduce myself.. Any suggestions welcome or if you just want to say hello. Here are the most recent pictures of me. Enjoy

Hi Elisa! Welcome to the board! Lovely pictures you have posted. It doesn't matter how much weight you have to lose, the point is you've made a decision to do so. Good luck on your journey!

Hi and welcome to ADBB! You are right to feel like you can't lose weight eating mayo and cheese freely. Did you know there is a limit on how much cheese you can have per day?

On induction you can have three to four ounces of the following full fat, firm, soft and semisoft aged cheeses including:

      chedder
      cow, sheep and goat cheese
      cream cheese
      gouda
      mozzarella
      roquefort and other blue cheese
      swiss
      Grant
      x20

Consecutive days nuts free - 0
Consecutive work days commuted by bike - 5

Hello Elisamancia! Welcome to the spotlight!! Don't fear, that Chocolate craving will diminish.....

My name is Scooter, great to meet you. Listen, you've gotten some great advice by some really nice people, Grant is correct, of course there are limitations on mayo and cheese, but they are allowed for sure! You just have to un-learn the 'diet' mentality of everything. This is a lifestyle committment that you are making. It's a plan to keep you healthy and fit for the rest of your life. All those reports have so many people running scared, OMG the ATKINS BACON DIET.....ARE YOU INSANE!!! That is because the majority of 'critic's' have never really sat down and read DANDR (Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution 2002 edition) or at least read more than the index. I highly recommend picking up a copy and reading it cover to cover and that way you'll understand where this plan started and why 'induction' is considered the blueprint for success.

You've also showed up at an excellent time, our fellow member Seasallychange and started another fantastic challenge, here is the link....
