  • Hi

I am a 30 year old graduate student in molecular biology. This is my second go at Atkins. The first time i lost 40 lbs. and was doing great. I went back home one weekend and cheated. I figured what will a couple days hurt. I was hooked right back on all the food that i couldn't have and the diet was over. i gained all of the weight back plus a little over the past 3 years. I looked at myself in the mirror one day and didn't like what I saw. I stepped on the scale and noticed that i weighed 300 lbs. I decided that i had to do something and i had to do it right then and there.

It is 8 weeks to the day that i started back. I have already lost 35 lbs. I have a lot more weight to lose, although I am not sure what my final goal is beyond wanting to look and feel better. My mini-goals so far have been 10 lb incriments and wearing old clothes again. Up untill the last couple of days things have gone very well, but recently I have been having the urge to cheat just one time. So far I have been able to fight off these urges by looking up tips, new things to eat, etc. That is how i came across this bulletin board and it looks great. It has helped me get my motivation back. I have never been comfortable talking about my weight, dieting, or excercise with anyone i know so i am excited to be able to interact with people who are going through the same things as myself.

Welcome! I found this site when I first started in Mid-March and I have to say that the support and motivation found here is just fantastic. Check all all the before and afters and join some exercise challenges. This site is very active and the fellow-Atkineers are so helpful and understanding.
And best of luck and keep up the good work!!!

Congratulations on your accomplishments so far.. Yesterday was one of those I want to cheat so bad days.. I don't know why either.. I ate well for Breakfast...had a good lunch.. But Chocolate was calling me all day.. But what I do is I keep telling myself... You have gone through so many weeks without cheating.. If you blow it today you will be so off track and you will have to start all over.. I also have to think about how much better I feel... So anytime you get the urges...just come here.. and someone will talk you out of it.. or read all the positive stories.. This is one of the best boards I have EVER been too..
