  • Hi!

    Hey there,
I have been a member for a long time, but lurking for a long time as well. I did this WOL a few years ago and now what it envoles, so I think that is why it is hard for me to get started. But I am hopeing if I put myself out there, I will be more likely to succeed. I HAVE to succeed. I posted a bit of my story on the journal forum, but what I want to add is, being this weight (220pounds) for 2 or 3 years now, my body is not responding well to it. Im 26 and feel like Im 50. (or at least what I can imagine what 50 would feel like) All my adult life I have had a 'mommy' body. I love my kids, but I want to feel good about myself again. I need to do something for me. I want my outside to match my inside. All growing up I was self conscious, and was well, growing up. Now that I am grown up, my outside dosent match my inside. I dont want to go through life feeling like this. so here I go....

    Re: Hi!

Hello there ArmyWife. Welcome to the board. So glad you de-lurked and decided to join in. You know your way around the board if you've been here since 2004, so now's a good time to get active in some of the activities. They're fun and motivational.

I love what you say about wanting your outside to match your inside. That puts it in a nutshell for so many of us. I'm sure that if you focus firmly on your goal you'll get to experience that "match"... and maintain it!

    Happy Atkineering!

        Re: Hi!

Welcome Armywife!! Since you have been around this board a long time, you already know how great it is! The only thing I would add is to check in and read it every day because it really keeps you motivated. There are so many smart and determined folks here and they're always ready to help.

AND, I almost forgot to say, I AM 50 and boy is it tougher to lose at this age than at a younger age. So you are sooooo wise to do it now...and you will have so many more years to enjoy being slim and healthy! Your family will be proud too---my sons encourage me all the time because they think it is very cool that their mom is finally doing something for herself (they call it "getting a life, mom").

        You will do this!!

          Re: Hi!

Good morning Armywife!!! Welcome to the spotlight, my name is Scooter, and it is really nice to meet you. Well, you've come to the right place if you are trying to focus on losing weight. This board is a godsend, I came here a year ago needing to lose 100 pounds, and here I am a year later, I've lost 77 pounds, pretty much kept it off, learned how to eat right, and exercise right, and I'm still pushing forward. As an extra added reward, the fine folks here at ADBB thought I might be a good host for the spotlight, to welcome new folks such as yourself! So...that being said, here I am, here you are, excellent!!

I am really happy that you come out of 'lurking' status and posted, good for you!! I just gave you some REP for that. It's fun to see your little REP bar go up while the pounds are going down!! Yeah baby!

And speaking of 'baby' 26!! You're still a very very young lady!! You change your lifestyle to this WOE and I swear you'll feel like 26 (or even less) again, really quick. Where are you guys stationed? Is your husband serving overseas? I was in the military years ago, but never had the luxury of being with my family...I do hope you're all together. Maybe the ol' Scoot should go read your story in your journal!! haha!!

You've picked an excellent time to start, we have a 'challenge' in progress or actually getting ready to start, check it out and sign up for it....
