  • Sugar Withdrawal and Looking for Mentors. Will You Help?

    Hello --

    I'm looking for mentors.

I'm reaching out because after 14 days with no significant loss and a feeling of irritabillity and general crappiness (is it sugar withdrawal?), I'd like folks I can check in with, those who either have had great success or who have just started, are seeing results, and are going like wildfire.

I have never been a "normal" weight, and am very motivated, but I need someone to check in with because I feel like flying at anything with sugar in it.

I've sent private messages, too, but I haven't heard from anyone willing to take me on.

    Thanks.

Around here, I think everybody just sort of helps everybody!

Don't be afraid to post--often that will give you more responses than PMs.

After induction, you've lost 5 pounds. You have a total of 92 to lose. 5 pounds is 5% which is right on target; during induction it's estimated that you will lose between 5-10% of your total weight. You say that your progress is slower than you feel it should be. How about posting some menus in the "Review my Menu" section? Maybe there are some things that can be tweaked to help you out. Weight loss can be affected by other things such as age, activity level, medication, health problems, etc. Also what kind of exercise are you doing? Are you drinking your water?

We can help you better with that info.

      Thanks.

      Yes to the water.

No to the exercising -- felt so horrible physically that I was waiting until I dropped a few pounds because I tend to feel back stuff if I exercise when I'm too heavy.

      Age: 44.

Medication: only for acid reflux, nothing else. I don't smoke, rarely drink.

I've done this before and lost a ton during induction.

Do I feel terrible because of the dreaded "induction flu"?

Have you tried posting in the Penpals/Mentors/Buddies forum? You might find a special buddy or mentor there.

Your sluggish feelings and general malaise could very easily be induction flu, although that usually has long gone by day 14. Is there anything else you can pinpoint, I wonder? You might be sensitive to a particular food, if you've added something different to your diet.

Hope you feel a lot better very soon.

Dear Peachy: I am making my second attempt at induction in one month. The first time, I made it all the way to day 13. Suffice it to say, I had induction flu the entire time, so you are not alone. I also lost like only 3 pounds! I am fairly certain, however, that I have systemic candida because I took several courses of antibiotics last winter. Maybe this is also something you should look into? Good luck to you and hang in there!
