  • Better late than never

Just thought I'd go ahead and introduce myself, even though this intro is coming a little late. Currently, I have 15 pounds to lose. My BMI, for what it is worth, is in the high range of normal. I've "tried" Atkins a couple of times in the past with no results, but I sort of gave up during Induction after "modifying" it. This time, I bought the latest edition of DANDR and actually read it. As a result, I am quite sure that I have candida, and I am going to try to get rid of it starting tomorrow. I took a lot of antibiotics last winter as I was constantly sick with colds.

I am trying to lose these 15 pounds very slowly. I figure another month, another couple of months, another several months are going to pass regardless, so I might as well keep with this low-carb WOL and see what happens. If anything, this time around has resulted in positive changes to my current diet; i.e., no more mac & cheese or eating bowls of other pasta. I have also broken my two-a-day, sugar-loaded Red Bull habit.

I am really inspired by the results I see of the people here who have been doing Atkins for a while.

Hello there Justwanna...! Welcome to ADBB. We're happy you decided to join in.

Good for you for reading DANDR! It's really important to understand how and why this way of eating works so well.
Remember, that if you only have a few lbs to lose they will probably fall away rather slowly. If you are worried about candida though, why not check out our Candida forum: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...splay.php?f=61 There are lots of people there who know all about candida and will be able to advise.

Keep posting and letting us know how you're getting on. We're with you all the way.

I just wanted to welcome you to the site as well. This diet is all about breaking our old negative food habits and relearning good ones. It was this control and relearning that made most of us successful. Very glad to have you here.
