Wow... what an amazing support group you all are to each other. After reading several posts, I decided to introduce myself in hopes of meeting some wonderful people to share my weight loss journey with. This is my second time doing Atkins. I lost 47 lbs about 2 years ago but managed to gain it all back after I stopped doing it all together.... (big mistake!) Not this time though.. after a series of dating mishaps.. I'm seriously on a mission to lose all of this weight. My goal is to lose 95 lbs (240-95=145)and to do a calender for my 30th birthday (which would be in 15 months).

I have to admit that although I'm very motivated.. I'm also worried that I will fail miserably again. I work full-time, go to school full-time and am a single parent of an 11 yr old involved in many extracurricular activities. Eating on the go is our way of life and I'm praying I can find a convenient way to change our eating habits. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

As soon as I can figure out how to post some photos I will.

Thank you all for your listening ear (or eyes...lol) and best of luck to all of you!

p.s. I am also Type II diabetic and have been diagnosed with PCOS. I appreciate all the posts in those forums.

      Welcome to the group !
I have kids too and we are on the go alot.
Try to eat before you go out and bring legal snacks.
There are a few places you can eat on the go. Subway has a few salads that are really good.
Hang in there, you can do it !!

        Welcome,
Pretty soon us Texans will take over the board. We have a lot of fun in the Century Club, come on over!
We too are a family on the go. My current favorite restraunt is Dairy
Queen. They are very agreeable to lo carb changes. Like taco salad-shell and beans, or grilled chicken salad. The will also double the meat for a small fee. Also if you have a Rusty Rooster near you they cook fresh chicken to order, so they have no problem making it for you with no breading.

:wave Hey everyone! Thanks for the great suggestions. I can't wait for the 1st to get here so I can start my Induction phase. I'm really excited! I love getting on here and reading all the new posts. It seems as if we all feel like family....and we don't even know each other. I guess similar struggles help us all to relate to one another.

I was wondering if anyone on here is also dealing with knee problems? Kinda a weird question I know..but I've had recurring dislocation in my right knee since age 6 and three knee surgeries in the past 3 years. I'm due for 2 more major operations and am dreading them because that is why I weigh as much as I do. The recovery time is horrible and lengthy. This is another reason I want to lose all of this excess weight.... besides the other fact that I just want to be super fine someday.. so all the losers who wouldn't date me before because of my weight will see what they missed out on...lol (just kidding... sort of...)

Hope to hear from you all soon! Good luck and God Bless!

            Hi and welcome to ADBB!

I do have experience with knee problems, and recently before starting Atkins dislocated my left knee cap in one all too painful basketball game. It has happened to me three times so far all playing basketball. (The wife coincidentally has said no more BBall ever again!) I have never had to have surgery partially because the doc didn't believe that 400 pounder would be active enough to need one.

My rehab included many trips to the quadricep machine, but I honestly think the best strengthening I had was in the daily bike trips I had this summer. I am sorry to hear about your knee problems. I know exactly how painful those knee problems can be. Again glad to see you joined our family of Atkineers.

Hey Bowulf... Sorry to hear that you feel my pain. Those knee cap dislocations are the worst. I couldn't even begin to count how many I've had. I love playing basketball as well and understand how hard it is to give up those types of things you love.. but you have to remember how much damage is being done to your knee when it dislocates. Even if you never dislocate again, it is likely that you'll end up with arthistis (although I'll pray you don't..) and that's no fun either.

When we get all this weight off.. our knees will be the ones to appreciate it the most..lol!

You look great by the way! Congratulations on all the weight you've already lost!!
