  • Hey everybody!!

    Hello fellow Atkins-dieters!
I am new here - this is my first post! I am so happy to have found this board! I did Atkins in the summer of 2003 and stuck with it until winter of 2004. I lost a ton of weight, gained new energy and mind set, and drastically improved my life. However, due to various stresses, and just plain laziness, I let myself go off the diet and go back to my crazy eating habits. Needless to say, the weight has slowly but surely been creeping back on. But I am ready to get back on track and stay there! I was so happy to find this board where there are many other people going through the same thing that I am. That is something I did not have last time. I think the support group you guys have going on here is so amazing and inspiring and I hope that I can be a part of it!

      Re: Hey everybody!!

Kristen, my gosh, I could have written your story!

I began Atkins (well, at least my version of it) in 2003 and lost/maintained until 2004. Stress hit me big time (student-teaching, working part-time, graduating from college) and I fell TOTALLY off plan and quit exercising and gained back most of what I'd lost. Then came more stress (moving cross-country, finding a job, etc.) and MORE weight!

This time around I've been much more successful. Last time I did fake atkins (hereafter referred to as "fatkins") I was eating pizza after 3 months. Yep. Really low-carb, huh? And veggies were non-existent for me. This board has helped me TREMENDOUSLY, and the best thing I did this time was read the book, Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution. I finally understood how and why the plan works, and I actually took the time to go through OWL properly, going up all the rungs. The only things I can't eat now are the "whites"--white rice, white flour, white sugar.

So Atkins really DOES work! I'm so glad I found this board--it's kept me on the straight and narrow. I'm glad you've found ADBB, and if you have any questions, don't be afraid to post them!
