  • Here I Go

    Hello all,

new here. done the Atkins thing in the past with some decent results but always give up and start back on old habits. turned 40, work, family and activities have made me want to get back to my "player days" weight. currently a little better than 370# at 5'-11". HELLO NOT HEALTHY !! ... goal is to get back to 220. i'll take it easy, stay focused and change my lifestyle. thanks for being here and listening and you all keep up the good work.

i started the induction on Monday 4-30-07. no problems so far. headache is gone, cramps are gone, hunger has subsided. still feeling a little dizzy or "blonde"
plan on an extended induction for the remainder of this year. at least until i get below 280 or so.

here is a pic for your laughter.

Hi daymon. This is your lucky day! You've joined a group of people who are working together to support and encourage each other to get healthy and fit. There is lots of information here in the forum with journals, challenges, motivational stories, photos, recipes and info on health/life issues. You'll never be alone on the journey...you'll make lots of friends who understand and want to help you succeed.

Have you read the book? Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution, edition 2002? It will guide you to doing the program and understanding how it works.

Have you measured? You're gonna lose inches and seeing the actual numbers decrease is very motivational.

Have you made a plan to succeed? Having a plan devised for what to eat, when to exercise, what to do when temptation raises its ugly head and how to incorporate the Atkins life-style into your unique routine is what will get you to goal.

So happy to have you join us!

      Re: Here I Go

      hey dream,

yes i have read his book. a copy is in my desk as i type.
of course i have thought about the hurdles, and how i react when they arise will be determined when they arise. hopefully i be able to avoid the old habits and loose some weight and get healthy. not too many choices on induction phase, of which i'll remain on for the next 7 months or so. i like eating meat so no issues.
sweets are not a problem. i cook and love cajun food. rice, beans, creole's, gumbo's and etc. plan is to drop enough weight to exercise comfortably like i used to then i am certain once the weight is lost, exercise is incorporated i can begin to eat a bit more normal and healthier.

      thanks

Welcome Daymon, I understand you wanting to get back your "playing days" weight. That was one of my goals too. I have a lot in common with you. I just turned 40 and had a lot of weight to lose also. I just want to tell you to stick with it and you will get back to your playing days weight. There is so much motivation and knowledge around this board. If I can help you with anything, give me a shout, ttyl, brady
