  • I'm back and determined...

    Hello,

I'd like to first say how happy I am to have found this forum. I think that this is what I will need to keep focused and motivated.

A little about me, I have always been really skinny growing up. People used to comment on how I was way too skinny and I used to get teased for being so thin. I had a baby in 1994 & 1996 and I lost my weight almost immediately after each pregnancy. I used to be a size 0 and even with that size, my clothes were almost too big. I didn't like that I was too skinny and I was really self conscious. I also should say that one of the reasons that I think I couldn't gain any weight was because I had a really bad marriage the first time around. My ex used to tell me that if I gained any weight, that he would leave me. Happy to say, I left him even before I gained any extra weight.

I got married again in 2001 to a very wonderful man. He tells me he loves me everyday and I am so happy to have found him. So happy that I started to gain weight slowly. When I married my hubby, I learned to cook really well. I made a lot of Cajun style cooking for my family. I gained slow at first then quickly soon after. My weight kept going up and it didn't stop. I am 5'3" tall and my weight used to be between 98 - 110lbs. My weight went up to 165lbs. I began doing Atkins diet in 2003 and lost alot of weight. I was happy at 135lbs! I kept it off for almost a year, then a Summer vacation with my in-laws came and went and temptation to eat all kinds of food started back again Atkins was gone and weight came back.

So, I started Atkins again. Monday was my first day. I chose Atkins because I know it works and it worked before. I am determined to loose the weight but I need motivation. One of my girlfriends made a pact with me to get on a diet together. But, she is on a GI diet while I am on Atkins. It's a bit of a challenge b/c we don't eat the same things. It's almost like a friendly competition. Wish me luck!

I was really feeling good until last night. I started to get a really bad headache, and felt woozy. I also felt like I was always hungry even after I ate. Hopefully, this will pass. I woke up this morning and I still have a headache Any advice?

I also do Krav Maga (Israeli Military Fighting Defense) 3x a week. Its a hand-to-hand fighting combat. But because I feel woozy and still have a headache, I don't really want to go. I don't have feel like I have the strength. Anyway, any advice or motivation would really help. Thanks!

Hey there Eat Happy! Welcome. Glad you decided to re-commit to Atkins. You're giving yourself a wonderful gift: better health.

If you're suffering with induction flu I'd hold off on the combat exercise until you feel up to it. The flu only lasts a few days usually and is the good sign that your body is weaning itself from carbs.

Keep posting! We're behind you all the way.

              Hi All,

Thanks for all the positive replies, I really appreciate it

Update: I am on my 10th day of Induction. I've lost about 7 lbs (YAY)!! My clothes are starting to fit better. I've been eating healthy. I'm surprised that I haven't felt the urge to cheat. Loosing the weight and seeing the results keep me motivated and reading the forums help a great deal (THANKS)! I plan to add two more weeks in my Induction phase, and hopefully, I will loose a few more inches.

Hi Eat Happy! It looks like you are cursed with that double edged sword--you carry any extra weight well. It's kinda nice because it doesn't show much--but then it makes it easier to gain even more..... I do that also. I'm glad you're emotionally happy now and are rooting for you to be physically "happy" as well! Good luck!
