I was losing weight very well with Atkins about 3 years ago, then life happened and I strayed. One thing led to another and before I knew it 2 years had gone by and the 50 pounds I had lost came back with an additional 35+ to boot....
.... ended up going to the doctor a year ago for my wrist and was told instead that I now had high cholesterol, sleep apnea, and diabetes to add to my already very apparent obesity (yes, they used that morbid word). They sent me to a nutritionist who wanted me to eat up around 90 carbs a meal, 45 for snacks, eat 3 meals, 3 snacks, etc... no way, just no way. So, I tried South Beach, Dr. Phil, the pyramid, exchanges, and finally what helped was eating 30 carbs for a meal and 15 for a snack, but after initially losing 25 pounds, it stopped... and there I sat for 6 months. So then, admitting defeat, checked into bariatric surgery. Long story short, too expensive and actually relieved, not what I wanted to do if I could help it. My DH
.... so here I am, back on Atkins, feeling so much better already, and will find out Tuesday (joined TOPS for accountability) how much I have dropped the first week. I am so excited to be back and remember the thing that helped me the most, besides eating right, was being active in the forums, talking, responding to others; this WOE does work, but it sure works better with the support of this place.
