  • Hi All!

    Hello,
My name is Laura. I am 35 yrs old and need to lose some weight. (Well lots of weight actually.) I have decided to give this a shot. I am on day 2 of the induction phase and im telling ya...this is a lot harder than I expected. I have read through many of the success stories on here which are really helping to keep me focused. I really like the idea of a mini goal, thats a great idea. Anyways... I currently weigh 231pnds (as of 2 days ago.) I would like to lose 70pnds in total.

    Hey Laura,
I'm on day 12, but this is my third time on Atkins. Is it only really hard for the first few days, in my opinion. So don't give up, and welcome!

        Hi Laura!

Don't worry, it gets easier. I'd say the first 3-4 days are the toughest. Just take it a day at a time, and keep your focus.

ADBB is full of information, recipes, advice, etc. Don't be a stranger to the different forums! Also, pick up a copy of Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (2002 edition). The book is crucial! It explains each phase of the plan in great detail, and also explains the science of the diet and how/why it works. If you don't have a copy yet, check out the FAQ section of the board--that will give you some starter information to help you on your journey.

Minigoals are great! They really kept me on track. I have a minigoal every 10 pounds or so, and it's so exciting to reach a minigoal!

        Best of success on Atkins!

Hi Laura... Welcome.. we promise you it will get a bit easier in a couple of days.. You are getting all that yucky stuff out..

Monday will be 6 weeks for me.. The first time I did Atkins..I lost 15lbs in the first 2 weeks and of course I quit....

This time I am up to 16lbs...but what I have learned is that I will have to continue to eat like this forever...and the pounds and the inches will come off..

What I have gained.. My heartburn is better.. I sleep better.. I wake up feeling better.. My house is cleaner My body doesn't hurt all the time.. I am not having major bathroom issues.. Like I use to eat and would run to the bathroom... I am starting to walk up the stairs better without my knees killing me...

Make sure you take your measurements...you will be amazed at the inches you will lose!

                      Hi guys!
Thank-you all for the encouragement and the warm welcome. Very nice! Today is definitly easier than yesterday. I have found myself using the washroom quite a bit the last couple of days...but im sure thats due to the increase in my water intake. Anyways, I have not gave into any of my usual cravings. I took my son to the new spiderman movie today. He had the kids combo which consisted of a small popcorn, pop, and kinder suprise egg...and I snacked on a pepperoni stick and a bottle of water. Anyways, thank-you all again for your support!
                      Laura.
