  • Hello to all, I am new here

    I started the Atkins Diet AGAIN.....I am more determined than ever to keep at it this time. I am doing great so far; I am entering my third week. I can't find a store that sells any of the products other than the usual snacks in the Long Island area. Any help?

    Welcome back. Us multiple time arounders hang out in the STAC forum a lot.



    We check in, trade experiences and stuff. One such experience I have is that those "snacks" by which I'm assuming the Atkins Advantage snacks, usually trigger a response in me that causes me to bail on Atkins and wait until the weighting gets unbearable and then turn back to Atkins.

    So I'm not sure whether or not those are the snacks you're talking about but ....

      Hey there Dorothy! Welcome aboard! Glad you decided to post here with us. You'll find ADBB a wonderful place for good low carb advice and inspiration.

      You say "AGAIN"... well, how about checking out the Second Time Around Club (STAC) on the board. They're a great crowd there, full of empathy and wisdom to pass on to others who have taken one or more tumbles from the Atkins wagon. Many of them have gotten back on board and gone on to reach goal. You can too, I'm sure!

      Re products... it's really not such a bad thing that you can't get them easily there, as many of the products cause people to stall (lots of people!) despite their claiming to be induction friendly. It's far better to stick to real and unprocessed foods as much as possible.
      I live in Italy, so have a similar problem, but it turned out to not be such a problem after all and most of the low carb products I had couriered here at huge expense (like carbquick etc.) just sit on my cupboard shelves unused.
      You'll soon find lots of easy and tasty recipes with ingredients that you can get anywhere, to tempt you. Here's a link to an awesome recipe site. The recipes with an asterisk are induction friendly:

              Welcome back Dorothy! You can do it. This program really works if you stay on it and make plans to succeed. Write out any obstacles that might cause you to jeopardize your new WOE and make plans now to get through them. We are all here for you!!

                Thanks for the advice and encouragement all . I am looking forward to trying many of the recipes from Linda's Recipe Site. They all sound delicious; especially that cauliflower bisque (yumm).

                The Atkins snacks work well for my craving. I used to buy the Carbolite bars before they discontinued selling them everywhere by me. I am looking for the items like bread, pasta, etc. I did buy a low carb bread today that has 5gms per slice and it wasn't bad. Maybe I will take your advice and just look for the low carb foods instead of trying to find anything Atkins. It really is up to me to watch what I eat no matter who makes it, right!!!!!

                My husband and I started playing tennis at least once a day. I have been walking 3 miles and working out everyday. So far so good. Don't know how long this will keep up, but right now it feels good.

                  Good morning, and it is so nice to meet you. Since you've been around the block, WAR is correct (thanks buddy!!) you might want to check out the Second Time Around Forum, it's for those of us, myself included who strayed from the light into darkeness, only to find the light again!! Come in and say hello, we have a daily roll call where we discuss staying motivated and following plan! I know some others have shared so threads and links, at the risk of being repetative, here goes....
