  • Starting Tomorrow - 2nd time around

    Hi All,

Greetings from California . I'm re-starting Atkins tomorrow for the 2nd time. I tried it last year for about a month and lost 15lbs, but then fell off when I went on vacation. So...here I am again, but this time I'm going to try to get the most support along the way. Can anyone tell me what they bring for lunch/snacks during induction? I can't always eat out at work, and want to make more than just tuna and hard boiled eggs . Hopefully I'll gather up the courage to post some before pics - because looking at the other pics on this page is what inspired me.
    TTFN!

Hello Ash - welcome to the board!
Snacks besides eggs and tuna: cut up chicken stir-fried, slices of ham rolled up with cream cheese and a pickle, radishes, string cheese, celery and cream cheese, slices of jicama and when none of those things appeal to you, water, water, water!
Come on over to the Second Time Around Club too...we've all climbed back on the wagon after falling off and understand where you're coming from.

I love to take avocados with me for lunch... nice with just salt and vinegar. Also you can eat leftover meats, cold cuts, cruditè veggies... oh, and not forgetting cheese!

I love to bring a container of salad with all the good stuff ie: bacon, mushrooms, cheese, and chopped chicken. I also like ham or turkey slices with chive cream cheese rolled in a lettuce leaf...yum! Don't be afraid to get creative!

Thank you so much for the great ideas! The next two weeks should be manageable now. I will definitely check out the 2nd time around forum, sounds like I'm not alone.

          Thank you for your support!

Re: Starting Tomorrow - 2nd time around

Hi Ashleigh, your story is very similar to mine. I started this woe last year and lost 20lbs, but went on vacaction and put it all back on!
I started again mid April, so I'm a month ahead of you - my start weight was pretty much same as yours (a few pounds heavier!), and I'm almost your height - 5'10, with similar goal weights!

Some tips that have really helped me this time round :-

            1. I started a journal and this is a great place for me to say whats going on each day and record highs and lows. Thankfully its mostly highs!!
            2. I joined fitday.com - its free and invaluable to record how many carbs I take each day.
            3. Check out the recipes on this board - I wish I had tried the one minute muffins, doms cheesecase etc last time around. It would have made this woe so much easier.
            4. Take measurements - I didn't do this last time - on advice from some of the cheerleaders on this board, Jess, Adena, Julie and Joy, I took my measurements and I've lost 26" in four weeks. All in the areas I need as well - hips and thighs!!
            5. Post regularly and ask questions. This board is incredible. How I imagined I could do it alone before I don't know.
            6. Get support at home. For me I've managed to rope in my bf and he is also joining me in this woe. Now he has less weight to loose - maybe 20lbs, but by him following this woe, he really understands where I'm coming from. Theres less arguments when we go out for dinner as we're both looking for steak houses!!
            7. Drink lots and lots of water!

I'm sending you lots and lots of luck and best wishes. I'm sure you can do this. Keep us posted on how your doing!

Re: Starting Tomorrow - 2nd time around

Thanks for the tips Theperfect 10!

I'm going to start with minigoals like you have in your signature, that's a great idea. I'm going to make a point of visiting the board at least once per day and making at least one post......to keep myself in the groove. As far as the food ideas, I went shopping tonight to buy groceries for the week, and it really doesn't feel restrictive . On the menu tonight: Steak, mushrooms and spinach...my husband won't complain.

As far as measurements.....do you record them anywhere? How often do you take them? I've seen people on a "no weigh challenge"...why is that?

              Thanks again for your help!
              -Ashleigh
