  • I'm a 2nd timer

    Hi there,

I struggle with about 10-12 lbs. That may seem insignificant to some of you, but nevertheless...it is a constant struggle. I haven't been able to maintain a comfortable weight since after kid #2 was born, almost 9 years ago. My weight fluctuates...I have a couple of sizes in my closet to cover the range,

I tried Atkins several years ago, lost about 8 lbs on induction, started OWL, etc. and have traded those same pounds on/off over the course of several years. When I feel things are getting out of hand, I'll go off carbs for a few days or a week, but then I'll allow myself a piece of cake or pizza ...next thing you know I'm back to eating Breyers in front of the freezer, and buying chips only to finish the bag before I get home from the store.

So, here I am, back again...older (which makes it harder I think), maybe wiser, but I still don't see myself living a life without pizza and ice cream. I'm here, but my commitment wavers at times.

Hi Cubgirl and welcome to ADBB. Hope you find the board will help you keep focused and stick with this way of eating. With Atkins, practice really does make perfect and the longer you stick to it the more natural it feels.
Like you I started, never believing I'd eat this way permanently... yet it happened. ADBB was a huge help to me. Exchangeing ideas with others in the same situation really makes a difference. You don't feel nearly so "alone".

Post often and keep us updated as to your progress. We're with you all the way.

Hi cubgirl! Welcome to the board. Yup, this isn't about just losing those last few pounds, it's about a healthier lifestyle and way of eating. You will learn to eat the right foods, which will include pizza, eventually. Think whole wheat and soy flour!
