  • So this is it....

    Good afternoon everyone. I am Kat and have decided that enough is enough. I can't spend another minute at 285 pounds, especially since I know there is a much smaller, fitter person inside this framework that God has blessed me with.

    It is to the point now, that I am in a size 28 pants and that's stretchy pants people! I can't get up the stairs without either my knees feeling like they are going to give out or my heart jumping out of my chest. See for yourself:



    I have a 3 year old son and would like to be around for when he graduates, goes to college and gets married. At 33 and at this weight, I feel I have greatly shortened that time frame.

    So here I go.....have never been one to diet, in fact, this will be the first real change I have made to my eating habits. This should be a fun 2 weeks without caffeine, sugar and carbs. Someone will probably be dead in my house by the time induction is over!

    We me luck all and thanks for having such a wonderful place open for those of us who need it.

      Welcome Kat! Glad you found us here and decided to join the fun. Thanks for posting your nice pic. It's always cool to be able to put a face to a name.

      Don't worry, though the first few days might be hard, it definitely gets easier as you go along... just grit your teeth and bear the induction flu if you get that during the first few days. When it goes you'll find yourself more energised than you believed possible!

        I just finished my first two weeks of induction... a couple of times I thought of throwing my self off a cliff. (okay, it was just the couch, really) But I did it and am down 10 lbs!!!!!!! Seriously, I am a carb addict. I dreamed one night I was swimming in chocolate ice cream.... and I dreamed about bread. but you know what.... moment by moment you can get through it. Pray and read the book over and over when you are feeling weak, or cranky, or depressed... try the recipes and eat the fat... that was kinda hard for me... I never eat fat. Mayonaise, butter, full fat salad dressings, YUM!!!! They make everything good!

          Nice to meet you! I am sure with the support you get on here with all these lovely people to support you, we will all succeed. Like you I though enough was enough and I am on my Fourth Day of Induction.

            You said enough is enough thats a GREAT statement. Keep that thought sometimes the detox is hard but after the first few days its much better. You will have energy and a sense of accomplishment. You might should take measurements too. Thats another measure besides the scale that says your doing good.

              Welcome Kat! Yes, you can do it. I also started at 285 pounds and I understand wanting to get healthy and feeling better about myself. We are all here for you. My advice is to get active here with people who are making it happen. Join the challenges, start a journal, check out the recipes, read the motivational stories, look at the before/after photos and enjoy the journey to health and fitness. Keep posting ~ We care and want to share your progress with you!

                Hi Kat!! Welcome to ADBB! This is such a great board for advice, support and motivation. You can do this! Before you know it, you'll be posting some pics of a new slimmer version of yourself!!

                    Hi Kat! Welcome to the board. You've made a wonderful decision to eat Atkins style. It's a way of eating (WOE) that's healthy and enables us to lose weight.
