  • Day 7, gained 2 lbs?

    hi Everyone,
well, I've been really good with the food plan and keeping my carbs at or just below 20 a day. After the first few days, I weighed myself to make sure this was really working and I was down 5 lbs. But today is day 7 and the scale said I am 2 lbs heavier than when I started! A little insight from some of you who have time with this would be helpful....

I'm not giving up, it's just that I want to fit into my dress for my friend's wedding at the end of July and if this program won't work for me, I don't have time to waste on it.
    Please help!

    thanks

Hey there....don't worry about the scale! You will lose steadily if you stay on-plan, add in some exercise and keep on doing what you're doing.
I don't weigh myself at all, don't even own a scale. I do measure, when I feel like it, but mainly I go by how my clothes are fitting and how I look all nekked in the mirror!
I also have a pair of jeans from back in the day, and when I first started Atkins I couldn't get them pulled up higher than my thighs....yesterday I got them up, zipped and buttoned! Yay! Still too tight to wear out in public, but it's a measure of my progress.

Also, see page 148 in Dr. Atkin's book, point #5, Measurements.

    You're doing fine love!

Go by inches and enjoy the benefits of feeling great on this way of eating for life that helps remove fat from you body in time, and not over night (although I'm in the camp that truely wishes Fairy Godmother would grant me that one!).

      Hang in there!

OH!!!! Please dont stop now! You will see a difference, I promise.

Let me tell you, I didn't notice the pounds, but I did notice that my jeans are sliding over my chunky little thighs quite a bit easier!!!

        You can do it!!!

        stick with it!

Welcome aboard. Glad you came here to ADBB and decided to post.

The others are right... if you eat the way Dr A prescribed, exercise and drink masses of water, you'll lose. Measurements are a far better guage than the scales and often we lose inches before scale weight. Fluctuations in weight are very normal though and are the reason we advise not weighing too often. Here's a link you might find useful:

Hey Masizzle! We do all fluctuate in weight on a daily basis. You might want to post a few days worth of menu's at Post my Menu forum. Perhaps there's something amiss that someone will spot!

Meantime, keep on going as you are and drink your water!
