  • New to the ADBB

I'm a newbie to Atkins, on day 7 of Induction, have lost 5 lbs (at least that was what my scale said this am) I'll be really dissapointed if it registers less this afternoon! I so want this to work! I'm Lynne and I'm 55 yrs old and I need to lose at least 40 lbs.

    Hi Lynne,

Welcome to ADBB This is such a great places for ideas, support and encouragement - if you have any questions feel free to ask, though FAQ is a great place to start.

Congrats on being 5lbs down However I would advise not weighing yourself in the afternoon generally because as the days goes on and you eat (and even if you don't!) most people gain 2-3lbs. It is best to weigh just once a week in the morning. Take it from me - a big scaleaholic - you don't want to be always jumping on the scales as it can drive you nuts.

Best of luck with this WOL

Welcome aboard! Glad you found us here at ADBB! Congrats on your loss so far!

I agree with Baarb...afternoon weighing is always disappointing compared to the morning weigh-in. Better to leave the scale alone for several days. Also, I'd strongly advise you to take measurements.
A huge amount of people lose inches soooner than pounds, and it's the inches that are the true guage of weight loss, not the lbs! These can vary for many many reasons: age, gender, time of month, sodium intake, exercise, stress....

Post lots and ask any questions you might have. We're behind you all the way!
