    Hi, I'm Kim. My fiance and I just got through our first week on induction. I lost 6 pounds! He lost over 4, too. I did Atkins about a year ago, but found it difficult not living with someone else with this WOE. I did lose 9 pounds last year, but quickly gained it back when I went off. This bulletin board has been a great motivater for me. I log on just for inspiration. Reading everyone else's stories about the reality of trying, and trying again....and succeeding is what gives me the idea that I can, too! I have checked out other forums for weight loss, but this is the best I've seen. I have the Diet Revolution book and the Atkins for life book. These also help, as I like knowing the details of why this WOE works. Not to get too long, but some years ago I went vegetarian for one year. I ended up with very bad indigestion, a burning stomach and chest that would not go away. It just kept getting worse, even though I ate lots of "alkaline" foods. Seemed like it just produced more acid. The problem didn't go away until I began eating meat again. Well, enough for a first post. Glad to join you.

    Hi Kim. Welcome to you and your fiance. So happy to have you join us. This is the best site for support and encouragement. There's lots of wonderful friendly people here that will help you and make your journeys fun and exciting. We have lots of challenges, journals, motivational stories/photos and recipes that will help you. The book we follow is the Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution, edition 2002. It is the best information you can find on doing Atkins. It is a wealth of information, case studies, recipes and motivation straight from Dr. Atkins.

      Thanks for the reply! I want to get into some exercise/fitness challenges. What is the best way to find out what is going on right now, etc? I have not been able to motivate.

        Go to the challenge forum and post to any challenges you want to join. (I totally recommend the I AM WORTH IT CHALLENGE)

        Also, there is a woman's forum. Notate that you are female in your siggy and pm the Adminstrator that you want to join that forum. It covers issues that deal directly with being 'female'. Best wishes! I know you'll find this board an instrumental asset to your success!

            Hey Kimsworld!
            Welcome to the party! It IS realy encouraging being on this forum... I am much more hopeful and joyful since i started... I've only been doing it (this time) for a month... and am definately feeling more energetic than I have for a long while... not just surviving any longer... This is a great WOE...
            Join some of the exersize challenges... since i joined them, all I can think about is making sure I do my sit ups and get my miles in.... Really want to stay on track!
            the food part is getting automatic. No more cravings! Yeah! It really happens!
            In the beginning I was dreaming I was swimming in chocolate ice cream! lol!
            but no more.
            The recipes have been a life saver too!
