  • Hello all!

    Hi everyone!

I was a member of this board about 3 years ago when I followed the Atkins WOE, but I didn't post much so I wont be offended if no one remembers me

I loved this board b/c everyone is so friendly and supportive, and I have an odd request...

A week ago I began South Beach (I really need to get back on the diet train, and just was looking for a change), but I'm following it with mostly Atkins principles, just keeping the saturated fat down and planning to add in a few fruits and whole grains earlier than I did on Atkins (mostly like the rungs here). I was hoping you guys wouldn't mind me lurking around and posting on here as well, b/c the SB message board is just not as friendly!
    I hope you dont mind!
I would rather struggle to do this, than struggle with the fact that I can't...

    Re: Hello all!

We don't mind, however most people on this board follow Atkins only. You realize that SB being low fat isn't Atkins at all! If you stick to the Atkins plan, eventually you will be eating from every food group just like SB, except higher fat always. Patience in going up the food rungs appropriately would be in order because on SB you can eat fruit/grains much earlier.

Hi Jaded. I remember you. Welcome. Yes, I agree with Silly that SB is quite different from Atkins. But, you are always welcome to lurk and participate here. We have support and encouragement for anyone who needs it.

        Re: Hello all!

Thank you, I appreciate it! To put any fears to rest, I have no qualms with Atkins, I know it's healthy if done following the book. I did Atkins and lost 55lbs eating the same meats and veggies i am currently eating. I've just been substituting beef with turkey and eating reduced fat cheeses.

I have struggled with eating disorders, most recently binge eating, but about 2 years ago, after about 9 months on Atkins, I began starving myself. I dont blame the diet or anything other than my own demons, but it's difficult to go back after taking 2 years to finally get everything under control.

I'm ready to committ to weightloss, in whatever healthy way (Atkins included), but could use the support that a place like this offers. I've found the SB message board to be dominated by know-it-alls, and the environment here is so much friendlier and motivating and supportive. I look forward to the journey this time

        Thanks again all!
I would rather struggle to do this, than struggle with the fact that I can't...
