  • NEW GUY HERE! hey guys!

    hey guys! new here
my name is alfonso and i'm 21 years old. im about 5' 7" and i weigh in at about 236 on good days and 250 on bad days hehe.

i have tried atkins before, and lost some weight, but a family problem threw me into depression and i gained it back.

things are cool now. and i'm going back on atkins right now.
i slowly worked myself into induction over the past two weeks, the first week i just cut down mildly on the intake of carbs that i was eating. and this week is the first week i've been following a pure induction diet. alot of eggs, some deli meats, ALOT of water, vegetables and salads and butter haha. it's been pretty good, so far.

i've also been exercising pretty regularly 5 days a week, a half hour to an hour of jogging and also some low weight lifting, crunches, and a couple other yoga-esque/aerobics type things.
i've made the decision that when i reach my goal (150-140 lbs) i'm going to join the track team!

i love atkins because i can actually DO it with so much stuff that i have at home. it isn't a fancy diet or anything. i dont have to buy new and weird gourmet stuff. just alter the stuff i eat. and when i realized how much bread and cake and cookies and pop i drank in the past, i get disgusted with that anyway, and i don't want to eat it. who needs all those insane carb chemicals in their bodies anyway? has anyone ever read the back of a pepsi back? it's SCARY to say the least. atkins is an easy and successful approach at a lifetime diet change. and that, i find cool.

so yeah, this is my first week in induction. last night i had a mild headache, but it cleared up this morning. i'm about to go enjoy a couple slices of roast beef and cheese for lunch. and maybe some tuna too. i dunno! i haven't had any trouble with constipation that i can think of, but i'm definitely going to supplement soon with a fiber subtitute of some kind.

so i congratulate everyone on this board! i hope we all reach our goals and even more LIVE with them for the rest of our lives.

Hi to you. I just love your positive attitude. Great stuff. And it sounds like you are really going for it with the exercise too. Fab! I had a chuckle at your weight comment:

Hi Alfonso! Welcome to the board. It's so great that you think this way of eating (WOE) is easy and based on stuff you have on hand. It's true! Nothing fancy about it, just whole, healthy foods! Exercising is good too! Check out the Vitamin Club thread in the Vitanutrients forum. You may find some helpful information about supplements there. You can always ask a question in that thread and our resident Vitamin Queen, Biogeek, will be happy to answer!

Re: NEW GUY HERE! hey guys!

wow thanks everyone! this gives me so much motivation! wow!
you guys are all great! congratulations all around!

yep, track is a major goal of mine!
also i'm an avid collector of rare vintage clothing, tons of embroidered psychedelic things from the late 60s, original british mod suits, even a fur coat that belonged to george harrison! all of this stuff is in storage in my house and i've never had a chance to wear it. though for years i've longed too. my mom thinks i'm crazy for buying this clothing that doesn't fit me, just out of appreciation for beautiful things. so one of the first things im gonna do when i reach my goal is finally wear my clothing haha.

you guys are majorly terrific! you give me inspiration definitely!
i'm about to go for a good walk right now and then some weight lifting too. everyone here stay healthy and great! atkins 4 life!

Re: NEW GUY HERE! hey guys!

hi there GaynorA! doing terrific today! i'm now taking a multivitamin supplement as well as a couple other things i might not be getting enough of, mainly calcium, potassium, etc. thanks to Sillygirl's advice on the vitanutrient forum!
this is the 3rd day of my second week of induction. i haven't weighed yet. i'm planning on doing that in one more week. my mom asks me why i have't weighed yet, i'm trying not to weigh, because i don't want this to be a game about how much weight i loose necessarily, there are alot of goals i want to acheive obviously, but as much as i want to join the track team or fit into clothing, i also want to approach this as a new way of eating and a new lifestyle. you know? i dont want my prize to be an extra 5 pounds off (though that's fantastic too! haha), i want my prize to be a better and healthier life. and the team and the clothes come as accessories to that. but along with all of that, i have been catching glimpses of myself in the mirror and have been very happy with what i'm seeing, i didn't expect changes to be so drastic, haha.
needless to say, i've been rummaging through these forums and being so shocked and amazed at the success people have had! i'm way impressed by everyone here! it's amazing. and really inspiring too.
hope you're well! love back at you! we have the power to change our lives and this is great!

p.s. cornwall is great! i visited a couple years ago because one of my favorite musicians is from there, richard d. james aka aphex twin. beautiful place!

I'm so pleased that you are doing great! I love your attitude - it's so healthy! Fantastic. Glad to hear that you are liking what you see in the mirror. Good idea not to weigh too often - it can drive you a bit dilly. Keep strong hon. I look forward to hearing about your progress. Lotsa luv to u!
