Hey everybody,
Ok, so like many of you I've been up and down all my life this diet works, this one doesn't...blah blah blah,......we've all been there. A few years ago(2003) I took a stab at atkins, and to be honest it was the most success I've ever had on a diet, notice the key word diet! That's exactly how I looked at it, after dropping and amazing 40 in 3 months, I was content. I was out more, had many many more dates and so thr story goes. I lost focus on my goal cause I was living the good life. Last year I was back to being heavy actually heavier! I tipped the scale at 265 pounds thats the biggest I've ever been. I started getting severe pain by my liver and kindey areas, I went to see my doctor and all my results were messed up or elevated. The doctor referred me to a specialist and I was told to go on a low calorie diet which I tried for about 2 days, I was so hungry and moody that one afternoon I burst into a Burger King and ate 3 triple whoppers with 2 large fries and washed it down with the biggest drink in the house, but wait there's more!!! You can;t visit the King with out paying respects to the queen~! HELLO Dairy Queen and 2 big ice cream cones. As you can see things weren't going so well. I knew I was facing some serious complications if I didn't do something to change my lifestylr fast. I sat down and wrote a list of my wants ( dreams ) then I wrote a list of what I hated, both list were long and dripped in tears. I looked in the mirror and asked myself why are we here again? I won this battle! Sadly, I realized I havenlt won, I was still fighting but, this time I was pinned up against a corner and I needed a way to overcome and win or simply give up and die. I did some deep thinking and thought of all the people on NBC's TV show the biggest loser, and realized some of these people are older and even thought I will be hard I will overcome and see happiness again. I remeber the first go round and how difficult it was for me to start atkins, I was so pumped up on carbs and my body didn;t do so well during the induction stage, I was tweaking my body was out of sorts and I was hungry!!! So I decided to take a different approach this time I went on a program called the abs diet, It basically focuses on the food you would eat on the 4th stage of atkins but requires you to eat 6-7 times aday! I loved the concept, but believe it or not it was very difficult to eat that many times in one day. I started that in November, the day after thanksgiving. I dropped to 215.8 pounds in May. All went well, untill that mark, I plateau'd not losing a thing, and like many people I was discouraged so I upped my excersice and that didn't work, I ate more because I was working out so hard, and started to gain pounds and I did to 223, I was backsliding and hard. So I decided togive my body the shock that it needs to go to that next level. If you guessed atkins, then I guess your right, and that's why I'm here. I started yesterday and so far so good, luckly this time my body isn't freaking out over losing sugar because my last program was very low in sugar dept, but high on complex carbs. I know like all things in life it's going to be hard. I've looked at some of the pictures on here and I'm impressed, so many of you have done amazing and truely inspiring changes! Rock on and we will Over come!
