  • A new me!

    Good morning all!
I have recently started my new healthy way of life! I am on my second day of induction and I am having a hard time. I always thought that I ate healthy, but I never realized that I was eating too much of the wrong things. I do have a couple of questions: 1) When does this feeling end? I don't feel like exercising and all the water I am drinking is making me feel like the restroom is my new best friend. Sorry I am feeling a cranky. But I am thinking that I might try to sign up for a 10K in January'08. Maybe that will motivate me to exercise a little more and another goal. 2)Is that too many goals too soon? I am really trying and desire a new and better me. *sigh* It is hard to be confident in myself, when I am surrounded by unhealthy food and emotional eating on a daily basis. That is where any encouragement for anyone reading this comes in. If you have any suggestions please let me know, I am willing to try to anything that helps me on my new path.
Thanks for taking the time to read my first entry! Hope that everyone is doing fabulous!

    Re: A new me!

Hi there. First couple of days of induction can be really rough. I remember being so tired and the bathroom thing was a real pain for me too! My bathroom is upstairs and I felt like my legs wouldn't carry me up them one more time in the beginning. But now I don't notice it. It becomes the new normal, visiting the loo so much. And as for your goal for Jan - I think its a fantastic idea and one you should work towards.
Having an exercise goal is a really good idea for us all and a big help towards getting closer to our weight goal.

    Good luck.

      Re: A new me!

Hello and welcome Red_Julia! Nice that you say this is your new healthy way of life. You've hit the nail on the head, absolutely. Atkins is a tremendously healthy way of eating and your energy levels and other numbers (cholesterol, BP, blood sugar) will no doubt bear this out, in time.

You need to grit your teeth and get through the first few days. Induction flu (where your body is in withdrawal from all those carbs) can be horrid. In a few days though you'll find your energy comes back tenfold.
Take things day by day and soon you'll find this way of eating becomes natural and extremely enjoyable.

I love your goal for Jan! It's great to have something to work towards.

Ask any questions you might have and keep us posted as to your progress. We're all looking forward to cheering your successes.

Great advice from some great people. Seriously, your body will adapt. You'll get used to the water, and constant running back and forth to the restroom. It's never bad to set goals. However, make mini goals as well. There's nothing like crossing an item off your list and saying, done!

          Hi Red Julia,

Welcome to ADBB I agree I think 10k is a great goal for January, though if you are new to running you could consider a 5k before that point to get you into running. Lots of charitable fun runs are friendly and a great place to make a running debut.

Best of luck with it all

                Hi and welcome to ADBB!

Induction flu is stinks but is thankfully short lived. You'll feel better in no time and will be more than ready to train for your marathon.

I wish you the best of success!

                  Re: A new me!

Thanks everyone for your support. I am still not doing that great today, but I am super busy at work, so that is helping a ton! I am staying on track and keep trying to think that this new way of life will be worth every moment of hardhship now to live a long healthy life in the future. Does anyone know of a free online journal? I am currently recording every thing I put in my mouth and any exercise that I do. I think it might be easier to keep track on line and not worry about who might be looking in my journal. thanks again for all the encouragement!

That's really great to hear Red Julia. I am so pleased for you. Well done on your goals by the way. Awesome. I think only you know what works best for you ... and if you feel up to trying for a 10k .. amazing. The suggestion about an interrim 5k is good. And I love the suggestion about mini-goals. Anyway, well done on sticking it out. Lotsa luv to you.
