Hello all!
My name is Jen and I'm a 20 year old college student living in California. I'm currently weighing in at 220 pounds, which is way too much for someone of my height (5'4"). I come from a large family, so I'm not trying to reach an unrealistic goal of 110 pounds or whatever...I'd be happy with 160 or so. I mostly want to get healthier, so I can go hiking with friends without getting winded.
I've done Atkins twice before. The first time was severely misguided, because I had not read the book and was just sort of following it based upon word of mouth. I ate beef jerkey, chicken, and cheese for about two weeks, and lost 10 pounds so my prom dress would fit better (this was about 5 years ago). I know now that this is definitely NOT the way to do things, but I was a poor, misguided high school student at the time. The second time I did Atkins it was after going off to college and gaining my "freshman fifteen". I did well until I cheated when my cousin had a birthday party at the spaghetti place. Eep.
Now I'm starting again. This is the most I've ever weighed in my life, and I really want to stick with it this time. In the past I've been able to make it through Induction no problem, but it was the OWL stage that I had trouble with. This time I hope to continue perservering and not mess up! :]
I will be starting Atkins on Thursday, July 5th. I've decided not to start out the wrong way by tempting myself on the 4th; that day will be my "last hurrah" or whatever. Hehe.
Okay, that was long-winded, but anyways. Hello!
