    ok... i have been reading for a couple of days now and i really think i can do this! i love all the Before & After pics!!! i did Atkins back in 2000 i think not sure, but i know i did lose about 60lbs... of course over the years i gained it all back PLUS SOME... i do think its about time to get in charge of myself and make it a (((Way Of Living))) now! its gonna be hard! but i have to learn how to put down the Sweets! (especially the sweets!!!)the Bread! the Pasta! the Rice! the Potatoes!!! oooooooooooooooooooooooo k... i have to do this! no matter what it takes IM GOING TO DO THIS! its good to know i will have alot of support here! i ordered my Atkins Book yesterday (2002 Version) and as soon as it comes im going to get going! but until then, im going to stop eating alot of those BAD FOODS! like i said, its gonna be hard! but im gonna do this! im Mexican/American and grew up eating almost 99% CARBS! and here i am now 47 and im still eating that way! ITS GOT TO STOP!!! one day at a time, i will do this!!!

    Hello Tims and welcome aboard. Glad you came here to ADBB. You'll find that the longer you eat the Atkins way, the easier it gets. Take it from someone who also grew up in a "carb culture". Where I live, pasta and pizza are the way of life, so when I started I didn't really think I'd be able to make a total lifestyle change. Yet that's what happened! Amazing.
    Now, I hardly miss all those carby "treats". I adore the way I eat and it satisfies me to the full.
    If you hang in there, I'm sure there's every chance that the same will happen to you.

    Keep us posted on how you're getting along. We're with ya!

      Hi Tims! Welcome to Adbb! I know it's hard when you've had a cultural way of eating for your whole life, but this is an opportunity to change that!

      You might want to start a journal for yourself over at Journal Chats. It's a great place for super support and great conversation. I hope to see you there.

        Welcome Tims. Glad you've joined us. Glad you've ordered the book as it is filled with so much knowledge, case studies, advice and encouragement straight from Dr. Atkins. Get comfortable with the new life-style changes and make plans to succeed. We're all here to help you with support and friendship.
