  • Hello ! I'm new

Hello, I have been lurking on this forum for almost a month now. I started with atkins almost a month ago and have lost 9 pounds. My goal is 145 eventually but the first mini goal is to go below 200.
I am a graduate student and the stress of studying and working and eating whatever I could find has resulted in me gaining almost a 100 lbs in the last 5 years.
I am still in graduate school right now, but I figured if can't find the time to exercise, at least I can eat better. I am kinda disappointed that I only lost 9 lbs this first month but I didn't exercise at all so I guess that's the best I can expect.
I have been reading all the success stories and hope that one day I can become one. You guys really inspire me...

Welcome to our board! It's true exercise would have increased your loss and there are a few things you can do like parking really far from the door to stores and walking places, even housecleaning can be exercise, just get creative! Water IMO is the MAIN thing to success. You HAVE to have the water. Other than that, just follow the way of life and soon you'll be at goal!! Glad to have you here!

Welcome Ready to Lose! Glad you de-lurked and joined our Atkins crew!
DL has it right... if you haven't time for exercise then get creative and do extra in your daily life pattern. It's amazing what you can squeeze in. Things like jogging on the spot as you wash dishes (with practice you only break a few!!!); upper body exercises during the TV commercials; parking a little further away from wherever you're going so you can walk a bit; taking the stairs rather than the lift (elevator). All sorts.

Feel free to ask any question you might have. We're here for you.
          Before and after:

          PLEDGING FLIGHTS
Completed: 1st set of buildings and mountains (Everest,M.Blanc & Kilimanjaro, twice); Tower Masts & Chimneys; More virtual buildings; Challenger's Choice x 2 (volcanos and mountains on Mars). Currently climbing: Mount Snowdon again: 416/475

Start 10 Jan 2005. Maintenance since Aug. 2005.
