  • My New Adventure..

    Hello everyone,

This is my 3rd time trying to post, so hopefully it works. This site has been inspirational and very motivating for me. Thanks to all of you.

I started Atkins on 6/18/07 and completed my first 2 week Induction phase on 7/2/07. My starting weight was 168 pounds and within 5 days I was down to 164 pounds with 1 inch gone from my waist. Although I am losing, I am somewhat disappointed in the slow weight loss. Any suggestions?? My goal is to lose 23 pounds. I exercise 4 days a week which includes weight training and cardio. I plan to increase my cardio to 5 days a week.

    Re: My New Adventure..

You don't have a ton of weight to lose, and Dr Atkins said if you lost 15% of the weight you want during induction that you were doing well. 15% of 23 is about 3.5 pounds, so you're doing fine. You'll be glad you measured, the inches move faster than the pounds lots of times.

I get impatient with the pounds sometimes, too, but I didn't gain all my weight in 3 months, so I don't see how it's all going to disappear that quick, either. Sometimes it's better to lose a little slower, you get to become deeply ingrained in this lifestyle and are able to lose and KEEP the weight off. You might consider going to OWL, lots of people say they lose even more on that, and since you don't have that much to lose you probably need to start soon.

You're doing great on the exercise! Jump into some challenges, it gives lots of support.

Good luck, and glad you joined in!

Woo hoo you made it! Sorry you had trouble posting and welcome to the board. Please don't be concerned with slow loss. Slow is better. As long as you're steadily losing (with occasional stalls like we all get) you will be fine.

Do you use any method to track your food intake in terms of carbs etc? It's possible you are not eating enough food in which case your body will think you're not going to feed again so it will hold on to weight.

I would say it looks like your're doing fine! Great job.

                Hi Deek,

Re: tickerfactory....I did what you said, but I still can't post it into my signature. Do you know how to do that? Thanks.

                  Re: My New Adventure..

I just tried to go there and start from scratch in order to tell you the steps, but it "remembers" me, so I don't see the original screen.

From memory, you highlight all of the code in the white box & copy it, then toggle over to this site, go to your signature setup, and paste it into your signature box. Then preview your signature. If I remember correctly, I deleted a bit of the code that wasn't necessary. (My ticker showed up, with some extra code beside it in the preview, so I highlighted just the extra stuff and deleted it.)

                  I hope this helps!

                      Thanks ladies,
I was finally able to do put my ticker in. I've been doing Atkins for about a month now and still only down between 4-5 pounds (depending on the day.) However, my clothes are fitting better. I'm sticking to it.

Pretty ticker! I wanted to tell you that it's great you're going to stick thru this! Sometimes inches matter more than pounds anyway, so if your clothes fit you better, you're doing it right!
