  • Another Newbie

    I am on induction day 5 and so far so good! I am almost half way to my goal.

    I am forty year old female who recently quite smoking. I was a little on the heavy side (for me) before and then when I quite, I gained about 8 pounds...

    It may not sound like much to some of you, but I am only 5 foot and 0 inches, so 10 pounds shows up big time on me and the 20 pounds had me feeling terrible. SO before things go out of hand I decided to diet... the low fat way.. I did it for three weeks, only lost a few pounds and was miserable and hungry the entire time.

    Years ago, I read the book cover to cover, but never did Atkins.. Now is the time though.. I re read the book and so far it, and this board have been a life saver!

    Reading about all of you has been so inspiring. I am in awe of the accomplishments the people on this board have made.

      Hello and welcome to ADBB! Glad you're with us.
      Congrats on your success so far. Applause also to you for reading (and re-reading) the book. Understanding the science behind this way of eating is fundamental to success. I'm positive you'll do splendidly on Atkins and we'll have the pleasure of seeing you move steadily towards goal.

        Hello to you. Welcome to the family. Some of us are bigger, some are smaller - but we're all on the same mission hon - to get our bodies to be healthier and at a size where we feel happiest. So you are welcome. All the best to you as you shake off those pounds. You'll find Atkins a really great lifestyle. Luv to ya.
        Start weight: 103.6 kg (227.92 lbs)
        Goal weight: 80 kg (176 lbs)
        Now weighing in at ...... 95.6kg (210.32)
        Total loss = 8 kg (17.6 lbs)

          Hi cdeaton! Welcome to the board. We're all here for the same reason, 10 pounds for you I some one else's 40, it's all relative. You've done great in your first week! Keep it up.

            I too started on July 4th and I'm down 5lbs. I'm enjoying this

            I weighed myself today just to check to make sure I was on course and it looks like I am.

            My 7 day weigh in is on Wednesday and I hope to be down a couple more.
