  • Maybe this will keep me at it.

Okay, I've tried Atkins in the past. I've never lost many lbs on induction at first. It always takes awhile for me to stop cheating. I just got off the cabbage soup diet, but I cheated at it too. Mainly with fruit.
I weigh 220 lbs and I'm 5'7. I'm in size 20 pants. I want to loose 20lbs, well that's my first goal anyway
I've learned a lot just reading the board. I am suppose to take the kids to Chucky Cheese Wednseday. Its a long drive too. Sweet coffee on the way or black? To eat the crust or to not eat the crust? I decided I could pick the topping off like a kid. I guess I'm here trying to tell myself not to cheat. I know it gets less painful or I wouldn't be back to Atkins. I know cheating just makes it take twice as long to get to that wonderful place where you are not starving, your energy is constant not in spurts of sugar.
Saddly I have kids and I'm the only one doing a diet so the stuff is always around. And if I mess up Wednesday, I'll just restart induction again. I'm okay with slower weightloss. As long as it happens. Even if I stick to the diets, weight never falls off of me. Once it did but I was crazy and we had no clue why other than I was remodeling. I gained it back. I want those clothes to fit again!

My starting weight was 235 lbs and I'm trying to get to 130 lbs.

    1st mini goal: 145! met 12/09
    2nd mini goal: 140!
    3rd mini goal:135!
    4th mini goal: 130!

I drink coffee. I drink when I am thirsty. I am just a low carber. Not on Atkins at all!!! He has everything to do with my weightloss and nothing to do with it, depending on who you ask.

      Welcome!

My advice that you can take or leave: Try to eat some before you go, that way you won't be so tempted. Also, take a few legal snacks in the car-cheese or pork rinds or some veggies you like to munch. Then you won't feel deprived. Nibble some of the pepperoni and cheese and drink your water, order a salad and you'll be fine! Focus on the kids and having fun with them and less on food.

Hope this helps, if you decide BEFORE you go that you're not going to cheat, you won't. Atkins will work if you do it right. Check around the board and get more motivation. The pictures are pretty inspirational.

Best of luck and hope to see you at goal!

Re: Maybe this will keep me at it.

Come on woman...don't cheat. You can do it...each the toppings but not the crust. Bring something with you to munch on while you have that long drive...hech down some water while you're driving so when you get there you have to just go to the washroom and you wont even think about food.

If you really want it...you wont cheat. You have to visualize yourself at the weight you want to be...because once you're at that weight there in no cheating or it all comes back...beside the only one you cheat on is yourself. Be faithful.

        Best of luck.

Hi rita celeste! Great name you have, it sounds movie star-ish! Welcome to the board. By all means eat the pizza like a kid, just pick it all off. or, you could have a salad at C.E.C. You've done Atkins before and I believe you know what not to do. The good news is you can feed healthful things to the kids and family too, there are so many great atkins friendly recipes out there, your family will think you've become the gourmet cook!

I think a first goal of 20 pounds sounds realistic. Take it one day at a time!

Re: Maybe this will keep me at it.

Thanks everybody! I am going to stick to this. Today I walked a mile and I bugged my girls to walk with me, the one that is over weight was upset cause she had to stop early. I explained that she would just have to work up it. I truely have bad knees so walking is about as much excercise as I will be doing for awhile.
I hadn't even thought about the pork rinds and those I can get on the road too. I'm too big of a chicken to give up my coffee cold, I did that once before. But I don't have to have it with all the sugar. And I don't feel so bad about eating that topping. I'm thinking of freezing my tuna and mayo and taking it with me too.

Hi there to you and welcome to the family. I'm not a mom - but one thing I have learned about moms is that they are "super women". They seem to learn this ability to juggle 10 speeding balls at once, all going in different directions. So if anyone can plan to fit in Atkins my hon, I just KNOW that you can do it. Most resturants (often even the fast foodie ones) will accommodate if you ask for just a big tossed green salad, no dressing (pop a bottle of mayo or suitable dressing in your bag). All the best to you. If it helps, start to imagine yourself as "allergic" to high carb. As in .. well I could eat this pizza crust but due to my allergy it's going to cause me to break out in globs of fat ALLLLLLLL over. he he. Luv to ya.

Hello there RitaCeleste... welcome to ADBB!

You can do it! I know you can! LooseShoes and the others have it right... planning ahead is the way to success. Take legal foods with you so you don't get caught short. Don't let yourself get too hungry, so as to keep cravings to a minimum.
If you do Atkins by the book, you'll experience appetite reduction after the first few days. It really happens.

                  Howdy RitaC

Watch those pizza toppings, even though you're not eating the crust, the sauce Chucky Cheese uses is chalked full of sugar and the meat is partially starch fillers, all bad stuff that makes us fat!!

Darn, I thought I could eat my boiled peanuts!!! They are very, very low carb. They aren't a real nut. And boiled is different from roasted.... Oh well, I can wait a couple of weeks. Maybe they will have cheese sticks? I can hope.
Thanks for all the encouragement and thanks for the links too!

I have no idea where my copy of the book is now. I'll probably have to get a new copy. My idea OWL is going to be induction with boiled peanuts though. But I'm doing good about cravings and stuff this time. I get hungery several times a day. I also looked at the calorie count on my porkrinds, YIKES. I take a med that absorbs way better taken with fat so that part has worked really really well. My meds prefer Mayo, heh. I look at the food like fruit and remember how bad the cravings get after just one. Luckily we cut out sugar and wheat awhile ago so I've had time to adjust.

Re: Maybe this will keep me at it.

Rita - I wanted to pop in here because you sound like me!!!!! Just stick to it and do what you can and a clean induction gets easier to do.

I am also a 5'7 woman with kids. I used to be 220 for a while (and 230 when I decided to do this and not look back). I have a pretty good idea of what you are going through. I know at 220 my knees hurt a bit but it went away after I lost about 10+lbs. I hope that happens for you too. As for my family, they now eat the way that I do. Sometimes I buy the things I won't be so tempted by, like bread for sandwiches - just for them. Otherwise, they are stuck eating all of the yummy foods I eat. Because of that, I find that I cannot force feed my 3 year old any cake as she will insist on having celery or carrots instead. I think it's good for my family.

I love pizza toppings myself and usually get some cheap pizza with high quality toppings on it so I can eat them. I will save the crust to make breadsticks for my kids when they want (just put italian dressing on top and bake).

I go to Chuck E Cheese too and usually get their salad bar. If I remember correctly, their buffalo wings aren't breaded either and are pretty darned good (better that their pizza toppings, in my opinion).

THANKS! There will be food there! I mean food I can EAT. lol I talked to my friend and we picked a place I can eat at to meet up next time, without kids. My knees hurt when I weighed 145 lbs too, its arthritis. It doesn't get better, but I bet they would scream at me less if I lost weight. But I've walked my mile today. I'm afraid that's about as much excercise as I can stand. Before I wouldn't even commit to the walking so I'm really hopeing it helps this time around. I use to excercise a lot when I was younger, I still had problems loosing weight though.
Without this board and the people here, I would have eaten the pizza! Sad but true.

The Mozzarella Sticks got me. Little suckers were breaded. But I managed to not eat any pizza. And I really wanted that pizza! So I still get to start over and that means 3 more days of Induction. I'm doing an herbal candidia clean so I really shouldn't mess with cheese. I've lost weight though, and I don't even need a strip to tell me I'm in Ketosis this time. My mother-inlaw is trying the water aerobics so I'll ask how the class is on her.
