  • Hello (I'm SO original...)

    Hello Everyone

I was so inspired by the before and after pictures forum (everyone who posted looks AMAZING!!!) and impressed with how supportive you all are of each other that I had to stop lurking and join. I read the book twice and looked up some of the research articles that Dr. Atkin's cited in the book so I feel pretty prepared and convinced that this is the right diet for me. I'm currently on my 8th day of induction and have lost 6 pounds of the freshman 31 I've been carrying for 3 years with NO cravings. (Yes, its usually the freshman 15 I know, but I guess I'm an overachiever .)

Anyways I graduate in a month and want to and am prepared to go the distance to look fabulous and to maintain it for the rest of my life. The problem is, no one in my life supports me on this. They all babble nonsense about how "stupid" I'm being and that low fat is the way to go so I just stay silent about it. I'll let my weight loss do the talking in a couple of months. It's rather annoying since in a month I'm graduating as an RN and I KNOW what I'm talking about and doing nutritionally thank you very much, ARRRGH!

*Deep Breath....* I'm hoping I can meet people who will support me on this weight loss journey and that I can be accountable to, and of course, in return, I will do the same. Best of luck to everybody on meeting their goals, you'll be seeing me posting on here a lot I think . (I'll do my best not to babble on so much though, promise!)

    5'7. Starting weight 156. Weight 150. Goal 125.

Hey CareyAnne! COngrats on your loss so far! 6 lbs in 8 days is GREAT! You don't need other peoples confirmation to determine your own self worth, so if they don't like it they can stick it! You're going to do a fabulous job, just stick with it and give it the chance you deserve. Keep in mind that the less you have to los, the slower it's gonna go, so don't get antsy, it will come off. Best of losses to you!!

        CareyAnne, welcome aboard!

I love that you've done your research and are truly ready to start this plan and follow it. Extra credit points for being an RN--I always think it's so cool when health professionals really dig Atkins.

They'll stop badmouthing you and the plan when they see your shiny, lustrous hair; your blemish-free, glowing skin; your toned and trim muscles, and your boundless energy! Just stick with it and you WILL get the results you want.

Hi Careyanne, your thread title cracked me up! Welcome to the board. Sounds like you're well on your way already. It's awesome you've chosen this board to come to, being an RN who actually understands the way this works. I don't know about in the real world, but here on ADBB we're all like minded, and friendly too! I'll look forward to watching you shrink!

Thank you so much for your warm welcome. I look forwards to chatting with everyone. I have a question.... I accidently cheated during a nightshift last night. I was exhausted, didn't get a break and a wonderful nurse made me a cup of coffee. I thought I was good because I didn't put sugar in it but realized half way through it was half milk (really really really tired)!!!!!!!!!!! Do I have to start over?

Ditto what Emma said, just carry on and be cautious next time! What's really great about it is that you recognized the error.

No worries... could've been much worse than a little milk. It's the initial little slips like these that teach us to be ultra aware of what goes in our mouths. After a bit it'll be automatic.
