  • I'm New! Would love Advice & Buddy!

I'm brand new! I began induction 2 days ago and just joined the water challenge. Please give me advice on how to have my stats and the weight ticker (tickerfactory.com) come up with all my posts if you know! I find reading others goals, etc at the end of their post to be encouraging. I've enjoyed rading the posts and was just approved to join in.

More personally, I just turned 37 a few days ago. I'm the heaviest I've ever been without being pregnant. Starting induction I was 190. (I won't weigh till the end of the first week.) I measured myself but have not posted the measurement because I don't know where to do that yet. I've done Atkins before with success but got off track and tired of the same food I was making for myself. It didn't help to have a wonderful husband with a boinic metabolism that can eat anything. Anyway, I did lose weight, about 30 pounds that got me down to about 150. Now I need to lose 40-50 pounds.

Even more personally, about 10 weeks ago I found out I was pregnant. Last Monday I found out I had a missed miscarriage, where the baby has no hearbeat. It was a great loss and eventhough I don't think there is anything I could have done I know I can and should get my body in shape and myself in better health before trying again, if we decide to. In addition, I've got borderline high blood pressure which I am currently taking meds for. I'd like to quit that by losing weight and getting healthier too! I'd also like to keep away the diabetes that many in my family have had.

Lastly, but certainly not least, I have a beautiful, wonderful 5 year old daughter that is the light of my life. I want to do what is within my power to be sure I am around for her as long as I can be. I lost my father young and he was obese and had unmedicated high blood pressure and who knows what else. I don't want her to know what that is like.

If anyone has any advice please send it! I believe I should have registered for direct email from forum participants and I will my email regularly and check forums for replies.

I'd love a buddy if anyone is interested!

Nice to meet you and best of luck to you all too!

    Kelley

Hiya Kelley and welcome! Glad you found us here at ADBB! Sounds like you know that Atkins can work well for you, so you've made the right decision to jump back on the wagon. Good for you for joining a challenge so soon!
Sorry to hear the distressing story of your last pregnancy. Such heartache! But now is the time to look to the future, concentrate on yourself and get healthy again. I'm sure you'll be successful. You have your little girl to give you motivation... it so helps if we're in tip top form for our kiddies.

Post lots and let us know how you're getting along! We're with ya!

Hi Kelley! I am so very sorry about your loss. Sally is right, it's time to look to your future with your lovely 5 year old. All you have to do is post alot and you will make some really great buddies around here! We're all here for the same reason.

You might want to check out creating a journal for yourself over at journal chats. We also have a women only forum that's a nice place to hang out at too!

Hi Kelley and welcome to the Board.

I am so sorry about your baby - that is such a tragedy.

You and I have so much in common - about the same age, starting weight, etc. and I have a five year old daughter too. Plus I live in Florida! (Clearwater)

I think you'll find as you start posting around here and joining challenges that you'll soon have tons of "buddies", but feel free to PM/e-mail me if you'd like extra support. (BTW if you click on someones name a dropdown list appears that lets you view profiles, send messages, etc.)

As for the ticker, once you get it configured scroll down and highlight the code that is in the white box with the "HTML" title and righ-click-copy it. Then toggle over to this site and go into User CP/Signature Setup and paste it right in the box where you typed your other stats previously. Preview it to make sure it shows up. The first time I did this the ticker showed up with some extra code too, so in the edit box I went back and deleted the parts that I didn't want to show up.

          Good luck!

            Question for Sillygirl:

How do you get into the Women's Forum? I've looked for it and can't find it! I read somewhere on the site that you needed to have "Female" in your signature in order to access it, does it need to be in a particular location?

            Thanks,

            Wendy
