  • College Student Just Starting

Hi, I'm entering college this fall and I'm losing weight so I can be in shape for the ladies. I'm 6'2" and I started 7/27 at 248 and I am down to 236 now. I have tried many half arse attempts in the past and this is definitely going to be the time I get slim because I am really into now. I have also been of the carbs long enough that I no longer crave snacking. I have to say I am really excited and can't wait to get that "after" pic up. Looking forward to helping out and giving motivation!

After doing this for only 7 days I can already see myself keeping this off. I realized that after dieting you really appreciate every calorie you eat and I can see myself being content with a nice healthy calorie intake when I'm done. Before now dieting always seemed like this huge task/burden that I was not strong enough for. Boy was I wrong. Anyone who is struggling just needs to remember that it's only food. Your not supposed to eat for fun but to stay alive. And, another thing I have found that might help people out is that beef jerky is a great snack when you just need a quick snack. Have a couple peices for a lot of protein and only a little carbs. And, if you make it yourself its 0 carbs.

Sorry if my post seems a little sloppy and out of order but proof reading is harder for me that fasting for 3 days straight.

Welcome to the boards and the WoL! I hope you're also doing this for yourself and not just "the ladies". The first one will give long-term results, the second one has a higher rate of failure.

With this WoL, you shouldn't be counting calories, or going through fasting, or be hungry even.. snacking is good for you... homemade jerky is awesome.

    Whatcha doing for exercise??

      Hey,

      Welcome to ADBB

Lyssie is right - not fret about calories at this point (if at all) and fasting is a no no (thanks goodness).

Best of luck with this WOL.

Warm welcome to the board! Congrats on your real success so far! Sounds like you're beginning to get into the "lifestyle" rather than "diet" mentality, which is awesome because that means permanent success.

One thing I can't say I agree with you about though: That we can't eat for fun. Sure... food is our fuel, but I definitely eat for fun too... for me, it's all about pleasure: The buying, preparing and finally the eating!
I just buy, prepare and eat great natural foods now!

Post lots, make friends and maybe join some of the challenges... this is a great place for support and inspiration.

          Happy losing!
