  • Introducing myself

Hey, Ive been on the board for months now but I never really did introduce myself. To start off my name is Courtney, Im 20 years old and I live in Ontario Canada. I started atkins when I was 16 years old, the youngest person I know to ever have done the diet, actually the only person I know "in person" to have ever done the diet with success. I started the diet June 1, 2004 at 195 pounds. I had no idea I had gained so much weight after moving out of my parents home at a young age, all the carby cheap food caught up with me. When I actually weighed myself to see the scale say 195 pounds, I cried. I had never ever weighed that much ever, and I was only 16. I found out about this diet while in the yahoo diet chat room (hehehe) from an older man who said he knew a woman who did the diet. So a week later I jumped on board ( this being after low cal, slim fast and just "watching what i was eating" ).
My whole childhood I was the little stubby girl, short and fat that no boys liked. I had few friends and parents who just kept serving us french fries and pasta.
During my first jab at atkins I had a very bad case of induction flu and became very sick, even to the point of vomiting. Sooo I ate a hole pack of crackers and made myself believe that this diet was really bad for me.
Thats when I weighed myself and saw that i was not 195 anymore I was 184 but I never wanted to be 200 pounds, I promised myself I wouldnt.
So i went back on the diet, pushed through the second round and toughed it out, that lead me to lose 45 pounds. I was the happiest that I had been in a long time.
Throughout the years I stop and and go with atkins, I always of course gain some weight back, but now that Ive started and stopped so much and grew up to learn so much more about this WOE, I hope to be here to stay , for good, 5th times a charm lol

    Thanks

    Hi Courtney,

Nice to meet you I really like your second photo, cool dress and you look great.

Moving out of home was an issue for me too - I just ate bread for pretty much every meal at first!

Congrats on the success so far!

            Hi Courtney,
I started Induction four days ago and am going through what I think is Induction flu. I have very little energy, took a nap today and still was tired, kind of foggy headed like a low blood pressure feeling or how you feel when you're getting off caffeine. Is that it? How long will this last?

            Height: 5' 7 1/2"
            Start date: 8/5/07
First morning weight: 162/153- Day 24/Day 42 154 and out of Ketosis
            Dr.s scale: 163/156-Day 18
Startover date: 9/17/07. Weight is 155. Goal is 135
Startover date: 1/19/08 Weight is 162. Final goal is still 135.
Startover again date: 6/7/08 Morning weight is 168 (home scale). Same final goal=135 or size 8 whatever happens first!

            1st mini-goal is 159
            2nd mini-goal is 155
            3rd mini-goal is 150- I will schedule a massage
            4th mini-goal is 145
            5th -mini-goal is 140
Final goal is 135--hope to meet by 8/7/08

              Re: Introducing myself

Slim it is most likely induction flu, something we all experience...It could take a week or so, I remember my induction flu lasted quite a while my first and second time around. Just remember to eat your 20 carbs per day, drink lots of water, take some advil if you have a headache, take a small nap if your tired, try and exercise and drink lots of water, before you know it slim, it'll be smooth sailing. Thanks guys for your kind words
