  • Hiya

Hello there everyone.. This will be my first day doing Atkins and Im excited and nervous too.. Im originally from NYC but Im now living in NE Philly, I've been struggling with my weight since I had my daughter (shes 5) and I now weigh more now than I did when I had her I CANT stand looking at myself in pics.. it just reminds me how OUT of control my wieght has become, Im ready to make a change and I just hope that I can stick to this new way of living! (and not do what Ive done WAY too many times before and fall off the wagon).. I have to admit that Ive been lurking on this board for about 2 days now and SO many of you are such inspirations, CONGRATS on all of your losses!

Hi N2LW, well then, it's a good thing you're here!

When you've fallen off the wagon before, is there a reason you could pinpoint? Like, not moving up the foodladder, staying on induction too long, boredom etc? If you could figure it out, perhaps you could change it.

In the meantime, come around the board often so we can watch your progress!

Hi there Sillygirl! Ive never done Atkins before but I have tried counting calories, eating low fat and the 6 week body makeover and those didnt work for me at all.. with the 6WBM it was just too restrictive, food was just bland and NOT good so I didnt last very long on that. Actually it was my dermatologist that recommended I pick up an Atkins book and now here I am

Ah, you will love this way of eating! First of all, eliminating the carbs works. Secondly, after the first few days of induction you won't be craving foods anymore. Thirdly, this way of eating wil train you to eat properly, and healthfully as well. Read and reread the book, and thank that dermo for suggesting it in the first place!

Welcome, needtolose! You are gonna LOVE Atkins! As a mommy myself, I *so* know (as do many, many others here) how tough it is to be good to yourself once you have kids. You think, "Man, I'm tired. Too tired to cook. I've worked so hard today, I'll make it easy on myself and just order pizza. Or eat Chinese. Or this entire bag of Cheetos, etc."

Then we wake up one day and realize this is NOT being good to ourselves--it's the opposite!!! I can't wait to see how wildly successful you're gonna be with Atkins. God bless your dermatologist--although she might have just lost some good business; my skin looks sooo much better now!
