  • Got to do this!

    Hi all,

I'm a new member and have 82 pounds to loose, I have lost 7lbs in 3 days but am intelligent enough to realise I won't lose at that rate all the way through to my goal.

It's an inspitration to read some peoples stories and it proves that this diet works.

My wife is expecting our first child in May so I want to be as active as possible instead of the lethargic, lazy slug I have been these last seven years.

I am sure a few of you have been through the same bouts of depression with weight I have and the embarrasmant caused by comments from colleagues & (so called) friends. I am sick of feeling the need to make a joke about my weight (before anyone else does) when really I feel like crying about it. Not any more though, I will succeed on this diet!

Good luck to everyone and thanks for the valuable advice I have already found on here!

Hi, danc, and welcome to ha

Your words hit home with me. Unfortunately, I was 51 years old before I took this important step in my life -- and my children paid dearly for it. I was not out there playing and riding bikes with them, I embarassed them at school functions, and our family often didn't do things the kids wanted to do simply because of my weight.

You are an excellent Dad to want to do this for your (future) kids. Life goes by too fast and they're suddenly grown up and gone - and you can't ever have a "do over" with them.

Of course, you have to also want to do this for yourself, your health, and even your mental well being.

If there's anything we can do to help you along your journey, let us know!

Welcome Danc to our family of Atkineers and congrats on your impressive losses already!

Take a stroll around the place, but if I may be bold, take especially a look at the FAQ's Forum. It contains about all the questions one could ever ask, but even if you can't find it there, feel free to ask away in this forum. We would love to see you as successful as our other goalie's.

First of all, congratulations on your decision to get healthy and lose the excess weight. As you continue on this WOE, you will feel better and better as you lose the weight.

Congratulations to you and your wife. I can tell you first hand how much more fun it is to be active in your child's life instead of sitting on the sidelines watching them. I enjoy being active in my two grandsons lives. I used to watch, but now I am involved.

            Best wishes.

              Dan, welcome to the board!

My kids were the reason I started this WOE(way of eating) myself. Congratulations on your baby on the way (my first was born in may too)! You have a lot to live for, be the healthiest you can be! Do it for your baby, your wife and yourself.

Let us know how you're doing we'll help you celebrate and we'll pick you up when you struggle.

              Good luck!

danc I cant say how much your brief intro hit home!! I felt the same way for years, and admittedly I still do sometimes.

But it's ok. Knowing that you will eventually reach that goal and that you will not let yourself down this time around really is inspirational. Not to mention you've definitely found the right place when it comes to support, encouragement and education.

I really hope that you make it to your goal. I can't say how much i relate to what you've said, but I'm happy your here and I hope you make the best of it.
