    Frustrated

In the first week of my diet I lost 11lbs but now that Im on week two Iam not losing anything I can tell I lost some inches cause my face is smaller and my stomach dosen't stick out as much but no more weight lost WHY? ( Could it be because its that time of the month and if so will i lose the weight after its over?

    Re: Frustrated

Hiya Roseland and welcome! Congrats on your first week's losses.

Don't worry about the pause... this happens often. So often in fact that we have a name for it: Post Induction Stall Syndrome (PISS). It can happen before induction is finished too. It's just your body taking stock and getting used to the new "routine". Your losses should pick up again pretty soon.

Also, sounds like you're losing inches which is great! Much better than weight registered on the scales. Inches are real! Never fear, the scale will catch up in the end.

TOM (time of month) can have a huge effect on what the scale says, too. It can swing wildly during this time, so it's well worth being patient and waiting until TOM is well and truly gone, to weigh again.

Hang in there... these are good reasons for a pause, and all perfectly normal.

    You can do it!

I lost 6.5 lbs the first week of induction. I lost 1.5 the second week. But a loss is a loss. Hang in there.

        Re: Frustrated

The vast majority of people in induction lose a lot during one week and not the other. Some lose it all in the second, but most of us lose it in the first, like you. I lost 13 lbs this time in the first week, and haven't lost anything since then. But I know from experience that the scale WILL change, so I don't sweat it.

There's a quick, huge weight loss at the beginning, and then you'll settle down to a pound or two a week, on average. But your inches will be melting away at a much faster weight - take your measurements every 2 weeks and you'll be STUNNED!
        Start date: 7/29/2007

        Scale: SW:235 CW:193
        GW:150

Tape Measure: I've lost 42.5 inches as of 3/15/2008

        Mini goals:
        215 - met 9/10/07
        205 - met 10/17/07
        195 - met 2/20/08
        180

        I survived a two-month stall!

Hi ~ welcome. I agree with all that Sally has told you. You're doing great with your beginning weight loss. I'd recommend taking your measurements so you can see the actual inches you are losing regardless of the numbers on the scale. There may be times when you don't lose pounds, but the inches still show you getting smaller. Make a plan to succeed, join the activites on the board (challenges/journals/chats) and have fun with your new way of life. Making friends and enjoying yourself will help keep you motivated. Keep us posted on your progress, we care and we are here for you!

Ditto what the others have said! Just have some patience, keep on following what Dr. Atkins says and your weight will come off. Slow and steady is what you want. Hang in there.

I have stalled, too! I am glad you asked that question. It is one week away from that time of the month(TOM...I'm learning!) I am stuck on 165. It's so weird how the scale won't budge. I, also, can tell a difference in my face and my stomach is slowly shrinking.

I am not going to give up, though. Hang in there.

That's so great you lost 11 lbs. already! I know how you feel--I lost 8 lbs. after about a week then right before TOM I actually GAINED a pound and a half back and then I was stuck there for 5 days even though I've been drinking water like crazy (for me) and sticking to my plan. Now, 4 days into TOM I'm finally losing again, so hang in there! It may just be water retention so don't get discouraged.
                      FINISH IT!
