Hi all -
I'm joining the board a little late in the process: I hit my goal a couple months ago, and things are going pretty well. Over the past year I've visited here often. In fact, finding this board was one of the reasons I chose Atkins as my approach to weight loss. I've read lots of good ideas here, and lots of inspirational stories. I am so impressed with the courage and commitment of folks with much harder challenges than mine, both with the amount of weight between them and their goal, and with greater metabolic or emotional challenges than I ran into.
During my wieght loss phase, I would come here with a question in mind, and read diiscussions thinking "I wonder if that will work for me?" I really belive that one's own personal experience should be the test of ideas rather than the authority of what you read or hear, and I didn't want to chime in on a topic without having tested it against my experience. And then of course, once I had the experience my motivation to return to the discussion and report back was gone as I moved on to the next set of questions. Now that I find myself returning here with more general interest (and to check in on some of the regulars), I've registered so I can add comments where my experiences seem relevant. I don't expect to be posting a lot, but I hope to give a little back to a community from which I've received a lot.
My stats, for those who care:
49M
186/150/148
Started 4/9/04, goal 9/30/04
