    Hello all!

    My name is Michelle, and I've lurked here long enough. Time to reveal myself to ADBB!

    I set my goal weight as 160, because, well, I've actually been there and I know it was the right spot. I got a health scare at 19 and went all out cold turkey health nut 2 hour a day exerciser. I lost 30 pounds before my sister's wedding and shocked everyone. Problem is, I wasn't prepared for the OTHER side of losing weight: everyone else's reactions! I spent several months battling that and lost.

    So here I am. A former Zoner, I realize now that with my current busy life and lack of budget for as many fruits, etc as it requires for carbs along with the protein, atkins appeals so much to me. More flexibility, less stress. I have plenty of other stress, I need my diet to be simple! Besides, maintenance of atkins is like the Zone anyway. So if nothing else, I end up back there someday if I'd like.

    I tried to start Atkins a little while ago, got SugarFreeSheila's AWESOME books and just...fizzled. However, I'm sick of this weight. I told my husband yesterday there's no more negotiation - I'm eating clean til I hit goal. Then I can have some more freedom. We're going to Hawaii at Thanksgiving time and that's my mental goal.

    SO, there's me in a nutshell. OH, I'm a financial advisor and wife to a cop. Mom to 2 adorable dogs!

    Looking forward to this!!!

    PS - Going to focus on the stuff that lost me weight before exercise-wise. Elliptical (right in our back room!) and yoga.

    Hi freklz. I applaud you for wanting to do it clean and the right way. You'll make it with that attitude and learn new healthy ways. More freedom to me is going up the rungs and using OWL as a way to incorporate more carbs into my low-carb healthy lifestyle. That way you can keep the goal once you achieve it.

      Thanks so much Becky! My biggest challenge isn't ALWAYS the day to day stuff, as I work alone and have control over my food most days (so long as I take time to make it!) This WOE makes that time easy...

      /..it's the weekends with my family. Plenty of snacks around, but mostly my family is in the low fat, fruit, ww pancakes, biscuits w/skim milk made gravy....not exactly breeding grounds for Atkins! This labor day weekend will be my first challenge, so I'm trying to master quick tricks before then so it's less effort, which is what would usually lead me to give in.

        HI! I'm new here and on my 7th day of induction it's going good. I have not cheated yet! Good luck and I'll be here for awhile cheering you on. I'm 35 mom of two-married to a firefighter and I'm a cop.

              Warm welcome aboard Michelle! Glad you're with us. Great news that you want to do Atkins by the book... it's the most healthy (and often fastest) path to goal.

                  Hey Freklz! Welcome to the board. I agree with Dreamof145 that when you move yourself up to OWL (versus staying on induction food levels) you gain much freedom in the cooking/eating department ad well as retrain yourself to eat from every food group, only in a healthy manner with healthier foods!

                      Welcome to our great big ADBB family Michelle, there is so much support and advice here that it won't be any time before your thirty pounds is gone. I look forward to seeing your progress, keep us posted so we can cheer you on, brady

                        Ha...taming the elliptical....put a portable dvd player on the console. Time FLIES!

                        Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. I'd like to upload a pic but haven't mastered it. Perhaps this weekend.

                        Goal for the week: simplify and see what works for me meal wise. That way this Labor day weekend with my fam isn't something I fumble through! No one in the fam knows yet that I'm doing atkins, as I want to sort of prove it before dealing with all THAT. It's easy to sneak though really, cause it's so darned flexible. Tonight, we had the dinner ride for Jason's motorcycle group, and they always go to these dive places. This place was SERIOUS home cooking. I got the 2 chicken breasts that were smothered with a couple slices of cheese, mushrooms and onion. Came with an overflowing plate of fries, a biscuit, and the veggie i hoped for: corn. At least I'd gotten a salad too!

                        Well, night night all. Not sure if i should keep posting here or start a journal. We'll see.
