  • Newbie Checking In

hey'all! I am a first time Atkineer, started on Monday, so this is Day 3. I am a 47yo woman from Connecticut who just can't stand one more day of hating to see myself in a mirror or store window as I pass by...LOL. I have never owned a full-length mirror or a scale ~ can anyone guess why?

Actually, now I need to buy a scale so that I know this new WOL is working for me (and I can post here to celebrate my accomplishments!)

I am excited to be doing this and feel good about treating my body well, giving it healthful foods. Wish me luck!

Welcome aboard EmDee, it wont be long if you follow this way of eating that you will love looking in the mirror and watching those unwanted pounds melt away. I can't wait to see your progress, post often so we can celebrate with you. Your health will improve ten fold and you will be able to tell it. Again, congrats on making that first step and for introducing yourself, ttyl, brady

        Welcome to ADBB

And yep..what they said (they're awfully smart!). The scale is really the least accurate way to guage your success! Get yourself a tape measure if nothing else and ...away ya go!!

Welcome EmDee. I also agree with the others when they say measure yourself. The scale may not move but the tape measure will! Best of luck to you.

Welcome aboard EmDee. Glad you found us here at ADBB and are all set to take control of your eating with Atkins. You won't regret it.

Like the others said, you'll soon love looking in the mirror.
Yes, having a scale is a good thing, as long as it doesn't begin to rule your life. Weighing once a week is a good habit to get into, rather than once a day. Also, don't make the mistake I made of not measuring at the start. There are often times when we don't lose scale weight, but we do lose inches.

Post lots and let us know how you're doing! Happy losing!

                Re: Newbie Checking In

Thank you all for your very warm welcome ~ I feel like I am among friends already

I bought a scale at WalMart last night (the cheapest one I could find!) but when I got it home I realized that reading all those little lines is very hard at my age! LOL Guess I shoulda spent more and gone digital, but I have SUCH an aversion to scales that I did not want to linger in that aisle!!

So, I will take everyone's advice and pick up a tape measure, too, altho I am not looking forward to doing the initial measuring....what I don't know, I can easily ignore, you know?

Day four and I feel fine ~ no hunger and I am eating less than I usually do. A little headachey if I go too long without some protein, but other than that I am thankfully avoiding the flu symptoms I know so many of you struggled with. Thank goodness!

Today is first day of school here so I am treating myself and my daughter to lobsters for dinner tonight ~ I can't wait!!

Hi EmDee! Ditto what everyone else has said! Welcome to the board.

It's great to see this working for you already. The headache is absolutely telling you to eat a little fat/protein. Lobster qualifies for protein, so order a huge one and be sure to use lots of melted butter on it too!

                  See ya around the board!
