    Hi, :wave

Just thought I'd introduce myself. I started the atkins on 27th December and although I've lost 4 kilos in the first week, I'm having problems losing more (not put any on which is a good thing).

Long way to go, but I love the diet so it I'll just have to wait.

    All the best

    Welcome to the ha

Congratulations on your initial loss with Atkins! Every pound or kilo we lose is one we don't have to lug around. And if you are a bit discouraged, think of something that weighs the amount you lost, like some books or some canned goods and pick them up and carry them!

So welcome to you! And if you have any questions, post them in the Induction forum. Lots of our members will post great advice to you!

When you are alone in your head, you are in a bad neighborhood.

            Excellent, another David.
Well done on your loss in the first week.
How much do you want to lose?
Many people on here post, in their signature, their start, current and goal weights. It also gives us a good idea how well they are doing.

Have you been exercising? If you have, you could be building muscle, which is heavier than fat.
Take measurements, vital statistics, if you will. You may be losing inches due to toning, but the muscle is replacing the fat, therefore no weight loss.

Don't worry, it will come off.
I had a great first 3-4 days, losing 14lbs. Then nothing for almost a week. It drove me crazy, weighing myself every day. Then, overnight, I lost 4lbs. I don't know why it does it, but it does work. I have weaned myself off of the scale, only once a week from now on.

Keep at it, Three weeks down and you are still at it. Good, you are showing a bit of commitment to it. Atkins is not always the quick fix that often gets reported in the press, but supposed to be a Way Of Life.

            You're doing great anyway.

            Cheers

            David

Welcome Dave. Congratulations on your weight loss. I know 4 pounds seems small, but I rejoice over every pound that disappears. Baby steps lead to giant leaps and bounds as they add up. Another thing I'd recommend you do is measure yourself. The tape measure isn't as deceiving as the scales. It will tell you exactly how many inches you are losing. You'll be surprised to see your body shrinking. Sometimes the scales report water retention which seems we aren't losing, but in reality you lost and are just retaining water.

If you haven't already, read the book. Keep a positive attitude by exercising and reading all the successful stories here on the ADBB. If you have any questions, just ask!

Dedication gives wings to our dreams and keeps them in flight! In One Word...COMMITTMENT.

                  Thanks you guys,

The responses are a great boost.

I've read the book, including induction which I have read more than a few times so I'm comfortable with the first phase. One thing I did mess up is that I did not measure myself. This has been corrected and I'll keep an eye on my size weekly reporting in if there is any change.

I've been power walking eveyday since I started the diet (although it's only 1 1/2 miles) and have just this week started doing upper body exercises with light weights so we'll see what happens over the months to come.

                  Thanks again for the support
