  • Newbie from Jax, FL

Hi everyone, I belong to lampworking forums, but I have never joined a weight loss forum before!

I am 50 yo and 5'2", and started Atkins a week ago at my highest weight ever 165 pounds. I weighed in yesterday, after a week of Atkins induction, at 160.

My back and cholesterol are bad, so I am trying to lose weight in the safest way, yet quickly. I have lots of questions and am grateful for this forum, nice to meet you all!

    Lynnie

                      Welcome Danelady!

Yes... do get the book. It's invaluable. Make very sure you get the 2002 edition which is the one this board goes by. It was the last one written by Dr A in its entirely, before his death, so hasn't had other people messing around with it.

I'm sure you'll find your cholesterol numbers improve on Atkins... they do for most people. You might like to hop over to the "High B/P and Cholesterol" forum to get some insight.

                      Happy Atkineering!

Welcome, I could not agree more! The book is a must, must, must. We are here for all of your questions, but you will also find that the book has everything you need and also the answers to questions that you didn't think you needed to ask.

Also, read all of the stickies at the top of each forum. There is sooo much information there.

I am also from Panama City, Florida, originally. Dh went to college in Pensacola when we were first married, then I have lived all over. I just moved to The Netherlands after three years in Orlando. Florida is definitely my home!

Hi Lynnie! Welcome to the board. Congrats on your 5 pounds lost so far! It sounds like you're going to be very successful at this. Let us know when you've gotten your book. Also, watch for a "Reading Challenge" coming up in the next few months. It's where we read certain things in the book and have a discussion on them.
