  • Praying for a new start

Good morning and happy Sunday to you all. My highest weight was 219 almost 2 years ago. I began low carb with the George Stella tv show, losing about 12 lbs and then letting the motivation go when his show was cancelled. Then I got sick and could not eat for a month and lost 25 lbs. Once I could eat again I turned to Dr. Atkis DANDR and lost another 25 lbs. I have been stalled/maintaining (depending how you look at it) since Jan of -07. Since my demographics are not favorable to being a Hottie (middle aged, mother of 4, short 5'3"and on the stocky side) I'm not truly sure where to set my goals. I'm currently 157-159. I read somewhere recently, I think it was Dr. Bernstein or Jack Lalane or both, that the way to access your correct weight is look in the mirror and if you do not have extra fat on your abdomen, arms and thighs you look at the scale and whatever it says is your correct weight. That seems like the most common-sense method of detemination to me. Based on that, and looking at my fat, I think it would be reasonable for me lost about 20 lbs more. I also have a goal of incorporating exercise into my WOL, and I find I am always up 2/3 lbs the day after I do the nautilis machines at the gym. On Friday September 14 I began Atkins Induction again in earnest, and hope by tomorrow I'll be seeing purple. Please excuse the long post. I have no idea how to set up a cute little information center to the left of the post. Perhaps one of my kids will help me because I am nearly computer illiterate on that sort of thing. Thanks for listening! I appreciate this opportunity to share correspond with you.

Warm welcome to you and congrats on your success so far!

Adding in exercise to the equation will probably start your weight loss up again. It's amazing what even 20 mins a day can do. Don't worry about what the scale says the day after exercise... scales are notoriously evil. Take your measurements and go by those instead... far more reliable, and measurements are what other people see rather than the numbers on a scale.

Looking forward to following your Atkins journey to goal!

Re: Praying for a new start

Hi bobora! Welcome to the board. George Stella is an inspiring guy, isn't he? I'm glad you've found this board and we have a big recipe section too!

As for exercise, go take a look at the exercise challenges going on. There's a challenge for every level of activity. As long as you're moving your body a few times a week, you will be fine!

The inrease in weight after exercise has been mentioned before. I have no knowledge of it, but you can take a look at the exercise forum to perhaps find information on that.
