Atkins was a Godsend when I went on the program a few years back. I lost about 30 lbs. in three months and never felt better. Life got crazy and one chocolate chip cookie sent me into a downward spirial fueling depression and a sense of failure.

The last couple of years have bought me pain and heartache. My marriage is ending, my home is being sold and I have so many emotions running at the same time I feel completly out of control.

One thing I have learned through all of this is that I can control no one but myself and If I'm not healthy physically and emotionally, I'll never be at peace.

So, a few days ago I joined the gym and went on to the induction phase of Atkins. I feel better already. Other then a splitting headache for two days from sugar withdrawl. I feel a sense of accomplishment in taking control over myself in the areas of eatting, exercise and attitude.

Anyway, I'm glad to be back and I'm just taking life one carb at a time. Bonti

With all the negatives going on in your life currently, it is nice to see that you are doing something positive. Keep up the great work!

      Re: second time around

I had a lot of 'stuff' going on in my life when I started, including the tragic death of my daughter, but I decided that nothing in my life could be made one iota better by continuing to stuff my face with carbs and my weight going above 300 pounds. Life is going to continue to happen, regardless, and I am in so much better control, just by virtue of the fact I took my eating habits in hand and gave myself an attitude adjustment. The one thing I have absolute and complete control over is what I put in my mouth.

Best of luck to you and stay strong. We will be here to help you.

Hi Bonti, welcome to the board. I love that, "One carb at a time". Good for you. Perhaps focusing more on what you eat will keep you from focusing on life's issues. Come to the board often for plenty of support and friendship. You can do it!

Hiya Bonti and warm welcome to ADBB. You'll find lots of support and friendship here.

Like Silly, I love your "one carb at a time" saying (and philosophy)!! It's so the right attitude... baby steps down the path to goal will get you there before you know it.

Kudos to you for staying positive about yourself during a difficult time and for taking control of your life.

          Happy losing!
