  • New to Atkins!

    Hi all,

i have never tried atkins and i never thought that i will, untill i found this board! when i saw the 'before and after' pics, it had inspired me to take actions and for once lose the pounds.

like i said, i never done atkins, so here are a few questions if you dont mind (a bit random):
    • can i drink alcohol on Atkins?
    • what is the differece betweek Atkins and any other low-card diets?
    • can i have sour cream?
    • what about spices (salt, pepper etc)
    Many thanks in advance folks!

    Eligura

    Re: New to Atkins!

Yes you can drink alcohol on Atkins, however not for the first several weeks, it is added in during the "ongoing weight loss" phase

The difference i would say mainly is that we dont really eat foods labelled "low-carb" we eat fresh wholesome foods

yes you can have sour cream but in limited amounts

spices are also okay in moderation...

you really need to go buy the Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution 2002, for all the information you need to follow atkins, its a must before you start!

    welcome to the board!

its hard to say, 5-10% is the average but many surpass that.

after the 2 weeks move on up to OWL, ( you will read about that in the book) i lost more weight when i added more carby foods in, Atkins rocks!

Warm welcome Eligura! Glad you joined our ranks!

Just wanted to add my recommendation to Emma's and Becky's that you read the book (Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution - 2002 edition). Make sure you get the 2002 edition as that's the one this board goes by. It was the last one written entirely by Dr A before his death, so hasn't had other people editing it to their liking/profits.

                      Happy Atkineering!
