  • Staying strong!

Hello everyone! My name is Gina and I started on this program on September 10, 2007. I weighed in at 178 and I am now at 170. My goal weight is 140 lbs. I'll be 42 I would like to loose 15 lbs by then. I have tried this program before but couldn't get through the induction phase. This time I have not cheated.

I have been achy and I had headaches at first I think because of quitting all the caffeine I use to consume. I notice alot of acronyms on here when looking at menus, are these in the book? any advise?

I love this website I think reading everyones story has hepled give me the willpower to stick with it this time.

    Nice to meet you Gina.
Great job on the weight you have lost so far. You will be at goal before you know it. When I stopped drinking a 12 pack of coke a day I had a few headaches too, they will soon pass and your achy body will be energized.
Drop by the How Long Can you go cheat free challenge and join in. Keeps us on track.
Best of luck to you Gina.
I smiled when i saw your golf bag siggy, I am a huge golf nut.

Thank you, yes I am a golf nut too! Is it healthy to stay on the induction for four weeks? I turn 42 on the 14th of October and would like to get that first 15lbs off by then.

Hiya Gina! Welcome! Good to have you with us.
Seems you're off to a great start, which is cool. Keep at it and you'll hit goal before you know it!

Here's a link to the acronym translation page: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ead.php?t=6738. This is in the FAQ section. I know that at the start those acronyms can be puzzling.

You'll be fine staying on induction for four weeks, but I would advise a move to OWL pretty soon. Extended induction is more for those who are very metabolically resistent. Don't be afraid of OWL... many people lose faster there, particularly on rung one, which is more veggies. You can take OWL at a leisurely rate until you're nearing goal.

Look forward to reading of your progress. We're with ya!

Hi Gina and welcome. What you are feeling is commonly referred to as induction flu. It will pass soon. It is a result of the caffeine and sugar withdrawal. Congratulations on your weight loss thus far and on a clean induction. Best of luck to you.

Hey there Gina! Welcome to the board. I'm not sure your headache/pains was entirely from caffiene withdrawal, probably a mix of that and the old induction flu! I hope you're over it now.
