  • Hi all, Newbie here!

Hello everyone! I am a new member that has tried atkins before and never really stuck to it. That was back in 2002, just wanted to shed a few lbs., once I did that I kind of stayed low carb, but did not follow everything as I should. Fast forward 5 years and I am way bigger now than I have been (with exception to pregnancy) and I need to get back down and really adopt the lifestyle sense I know that carbs are what make me chubby

My name is Christian, I am an army wife and we live in Grafenwohr, Germany. I have a 2.5 year old son and he is the light of my life. My husband is also going on Atkins with me to encourage me and he needs to drop some lbs. himself. I found this forum a week ago and was just astounded at the progress many of you have made and all the encouragement. I plan to be pretty active and learn all I can to be successful, wish me luck!

Any advice, tips or anything would be appreciated...I need all the help I can get, tomorrow I start.

Hi Christian, Im Laurie and its really nice to meet you. Wow, Germany, you lucky girl. Congratulations on your decision to do Atkins again. My advice is to keep riminding yourself that the first few days are the hardest. I am on day 4 and day 2 was the hardest for me, but everyone is different. If you start craving sweets, do what everyone here says to do, eat something high in fat. It really works. Thats my little piece of advice. Welcome to the world where you can do anything.

Hi Christian - Welcome. I've been to Grafenwohr before...we lived in Germany for 7 years when my husband was in Army.

So happy you've joined us, and how fantastic that your husband is supporting you and doing this with you! My advice is to read the book, take your measurements, drink lots of water, keep a journal either hardcopy or here in the forum, and make lots of friends to keep you active and focused on success.

Everyone here is fantastic for helping and supporting each other to make it happen. Don't compare yourself with anyone else, we are all unique and lose at our own speed and in different areas. If you do the program as Dr. A suggests, it works. Wishing you the best success and look forward to sharing your jouneys with you and hubby!!
        Starting Date 3/12/04 285/165/145 - F

Hello there Christian and welcome to ADBB... the best place for Atkins support and inspiration!

My tips are the same others have given you: read the book (Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution - 2002 edition), exercise, drink loads of water. Also... come to ADBB often for the motivation you'll get by making friends with people who have the same issues and goals as you do.

          Happy losing!

                Re: Hi all, Newbie here!

Hi Christian! Welcome.. I'm so glad you've found this place.. it really is wonderful! I've just completed my first week of induction... The first few days were tough, but now it's much easier (actually.. I have to remind myself to eat, because I really don't have much of an appetite).

Read the book. Drink LOTS of water. Exercise. Remind yourself (constantly) that you can do this!!!!

Look forward to seeing you around the boards!

Looking forward to meeting the "new" me ....
(I'm going to get there by following this new way of eating.... Making changes for the better!)

                        Hi Everyone,

I am not sure if I am still considered a newbie or not. I have been on atkins since July 26/07. I am still in the induction phase as I still have my sanity eating only 20 g or less a day.

My start weight was 325 lbs and as of today, I am 290 lbs.

Can someone give me advice on if that is acceptable weight loss or should it be more or what.

                        Thanks

                            Hiya Westendop.
Seems to me like you're doing very well indeed. Keep at it and you'll get where you're wanting to go.
A word of advice... if you make a separate thread of your query, you'll probably get more replies.
