• Ah, Dr. Atkins... we meet again

This is my 2nd time on Atkins, not because I failed the first time - I actually did very well. About 6 years ago I lost 70lbs in 9months and freaked out because I lost the weight so rapidly. So I stopped and was able to maintain it for 2 years!!! Then I got a job where I sit at a desk and am only steps away from the vending machine and in almost 4 years I'm back up to my weight that I started at the first time. YUCK!!! I was still a big girl, but not gross. Sorry I know it, I am.

So here I am back again. I actually tried the medifast diet and I couldn't 'hang' it was horrible food. And lord knows I am ALL about the food.

So I do actually have a question for ya, I failed miserably yesterday which should have been my first day of induction. I had this horibble headache and after a handful of kisses I was fine. Then a small bag-o-chips with the kid, then potatoes with my meat at dinner, not to mention two slices of bread... I won't go on... before I thought it wasn't TOO bad, but now that I read and remember I can see that today needs to be day one

Anyhoo. I have lost the book and need someone to tell me if my meal plan for the day is ok

Breakfast:
2 eggs whipped with tablespoon cream and water
1 ounces of cream cheese in eggs
3 pieces of bacon

Snack
2 pieces of bacon

Lunch
1/4 head of lettuce (iceberg)
1/4 cup of Sunflower seeds
Bacon - I made some to last the day
Couple of tablespoons of light ranch (forgot the carbs are higher in light)

How am I doing so far?
For later as a snack I want to have cream cheese and pepperoni. It is really good and very fatty - which is horrible, but tastes so good.

My goal is to lose 30lbs by then end of the year. Right now I am just over 300 again and boy does it show! My ultimate goal is 135 sometime in 2009 probably

Thanks in advance!
-J

Bacon is ok... but I can only have a little each day or I'll stall.

Also Seeds are not allowed on induction... So no Sunflower seeds

Basically you can eat any protein and any natural fat and two cups of greens and one cup of veggies... You really need to reinvest in a book. There is nothing more frustrating than thinking you are doing it right and really trying only to find that you have been sabotaging yourself.. It costs less than a hamburger... so just go get the book.

One little note.. don't waste your two cups of salad on iceberg lettuce.. it has less vitamins and things that your body needs than almost any green... Instead choose red leaf lettuce or bell peppers or spinach... Something that actually has some value to it!... you'll feel better for it.

Also try to avoid the processed meat products as much as you can.... pepperoni is tasty but it can contain sugars and fillers that you don't want. Try buying smoked sliced turkey or better yet peppered turkey.. Some ham.. ( but not maple or honey glazed) remember you want fats... but avoid sugars and carbs!!

Welcome Girlhysterical! Glad to have you with us!

Re your menu... Catblue gave you good advice, which I'd second wholeheartedly.
When you get another copy of the book, make sure it's the 2002 edition. That's the one this board goes by as it was the last one written entirely by Dr A before his death.

Keep us posted on your progress! We're with ya!

Welcome to the group. My first time around, I read just enough of the book to do Induction. This time, I reference it all the time and I read and reread. Look forward to the hearing about your journey.

Hi Girlhysterical! I like your name!

Definitely eat more food, ease up on the bacon and ditch the nuts for now. When you get the book, you will read all about why we say this! There is a certain order to eating this way. When done properly, you will lose weight and become healthier!

Watch for our upcoming veggie challenge next month! Joining the challenge will help you to understand how important veggies are and what the proper quantity to eat each day is for all levels of Atkins!
