:wave Hi! I'm so glad I found a place that has sooooo much information! Here's a little about me.

    5'3.5"
    SW: 298 2/14/04
    CW: 260
    GW: 170-180 for now

As a young child I was very active, did ballet, gymnastics, and swimming. So my family's "food for every occasion" attitude did not affect me too much. At the age of ten, I started getting visits from Aunt Flo and my activity was almost nothing. I went from a skinny little tomboy to a plump preteen in a year. I was enrolled in Fat Kid Camps and was put on restricted calorie diets that didn't work, left me starving, and I was constantly trying to sneak bad foods. I began high school at 180 pounds which quickly ballooned to 235 because food was my only friend. I started smoking at 15 to try to lose weight because a friend of mine did it and lost 20 pounds. Needless to say, that didn't work and now I'm a smoker and overweight! I tried weight watchers but was constantly hungry and ended up sneaking all those bad foods again. I did manage to get down to 190 for graduation but quickly gained it back when I entered college. After one year of college, I went back home because of my father's illness and gained another 15 pounds because the only foods my father liked during chemo were all very high calorie high fat foods. I met the most wonderful man and his son, moved in with them, promptly lost 20 pounds from simple lack of food to eat. When we married I weighed about 250. I started on Depo Provera (birth control shot) and slowly gained my way to 298. At 298 I started having chest pain, shortness of breath, I couldn't play with our son, and there was no way I could get pregnant with the child that we want so much. I decided that my life was out of control and I needed to take control of something. My father's cancer doc prescribed a very restricted low carb diet that caused some problems for me, but I wasn't hungry on this way of eating!!! I found a few low carb support boards and started asking questions. I started walking on a treadmill at 2.5 miles/hour for 30 minutes 3 times a week. From a starting weight of 298, I am down to 260! The benefits I have noticed are: no more chest pain, more energy, less allergy reactions, and of course weight loss!! This way of life is it! I will not eat Twinkies, Ding Dongs, or Ho-Hos again!
