Hi TQ. Glad you've made the committment to get healthy and join us. You'll find lots of encouragement and support here with loads of information, challenges, forums for dealing with life/health issues, motivational stories/photos, and great people to share your goals with. All you have to do is come here often and plan for success.

As for the Asian-type cooking, you can continue to eat your usual foods except don't use the sweetened sauces on your meats and veggies. I substitute rice with diced cauliflower and put my stir-fry on top of that. The texture is much like rice and it satisfies me completely. Have you read the book? Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution, edition 2002? It is the book that we refer to here and it is great inspiration to read in Dr. Atkins' own words how to do the program and why it works. If you haven't read the book yet, you'll find the induction food list in the induction forum here at ADBB.

Make yourself at home, take your measurements (so you can see the inches melting off) (its very motivating), exercise and enjoy this Way of Life and the new life-style you'll be creating. Best wishes. We're all here for you!

Hi there Suria and a very warm welcome to ADBB. Pleased to welcome you aboard our great friendly ship. You'll find lots of encouragement and support here and nice friendly supportive people to share your goals with.

As for the Asian-type cooking, I am not sure what you can do really except avoid the rich carb laden sauces. It would be a good idea to Buy Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution. It is a great book and you'll find it very helpful indeed to get you on the right path.

In order to follow atkins properly, you have to give up all rice. The 1 tsp you are eating will counteract your body getting into ketosis, therefore weight loss. Try without it for a few days, soon you will not even want it anymore.
